I think I’ve found it. The always-on solution to clear, ringing tones; sparkling cleans, unimpeded from your raw pickup sound. It preserves "touchyness" and "snap." There is also an increase in effective dynamic range of your signal, and in some cases coil noise is reduced! The custom-tailored load kicks the resonant peak of your pickups out typically about 5 or 10k compared to a load of a few true-bypass switches and reasonable cabling. The pickup’s top-end rolloff is smoother too. You'll feel more chime and less pinchy top-end.

with just a grunge, I’m able to get the same tone from a solid state amp as Henry Kaiser gets from his Klon into his Dumble. Spectacularly underrated circuit

Given that most people seem to want a klon to nudge a 1kHz slider on a graphic EQ for them, I could see that being the case.
