Tommy III vs Tommy

Anybody build both of these? I've got the orig, but wondered if there's anything that would compel me to go back to the well? I notice that the schematics are significantly different.

While I haven't built both Tommy versions I have built and played the original Timmy and built a Timmy III. I like the Timmy III better. It still sounds like an original Timmy but is a more focussed sound, which I think is a good thing. Among my friends the Timmy is revered as an almost sacred relic. It's a decent overdrive but I think there are more interesting choices available. The original is a bit bland and the new one slightly less bland.

I own an OG Timmy and the Timmy v3, probably my favorite OD pedal. They can be dialed in to sound pretty much exactly the same. Timmy v3 has more gain on tap via the switch, Paul Cochrane said it's supposed to bring the Timmy into the gain range of the Tim. Biggest difference to me is the taper and direction you turn the bass/treble knobs. On the original Timmy, max bass/treble is fully CCW. Timmy v3, max bass/treble is fully CW.

No experience with the Tommy's, though I have a Tommy III that I'll be assembling soon. I fully expect it to sound identical but I can report back.
