Solid state tuners sound so flat and sterile. Can we get a diy tube driven guitar tuner project? Real diy tuner projects have high voltage in them. And star washers on the outside

I was curious about alphabetical nixie tubes since I didn't recall ever seeing them before and I guess they exist but are rare/stupidly expensive.

You may be shocked to know this is not the first time I've been asked about this. On Talkbass someone started a thread about "boutique tuners" and asked why there weren't more options for people that like spending money, so I was asked to design a tube tuner.

Basically all I would do is have a single tube stage before the digital tuning section, then I could use the remaining tube stage (I'm assuming dual triode) to have a tube driven headphone output so people will like @Mentaltossflycoon will give me their money.


This would be absurdly cool. My nixie tinkering experience (like almost everyone else's) started and ended with a clock. But if I could find a nixie tube with a decently readable display for a tuner, I would absolutely want to build it.

I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS SORT OF THING, STOP GIVING ME IDEAS. I NEED TO SLEEP SOMETIME.
