Tungsten Preamp - another weird D.I. thing

I got new potentiometers from musikding without an email reply. They were 16mm and not 9mm. This is the worst consumer experience I've had in perhaps decades.

Both C2C and Musikding have been slow and/or nonrepliant in this entire issue, so I will request a chargeback the next couple of days.

I'm not really sure what you want me to do in this situation. I supply PCBs to Musikding, that is it. He is responsible for everything else provided in the kit. You purchased the kit from Musikding. I could reach out to Klaus on your behalf, or I would be happy to help you source the correct parts, but I do not and never have offer part kits for these projects. I'm sorry you're having this experience, but I don't know what you expect from me.

An answer would have been nice, like saying this 2 months ago instead of dodging the issue. The bad BOM came from somewhere.

My friend,

I know you are frustrated and disappointed with your current experience.

Please know that C2CE is a project of passion, not one that pays the bills for his family and yet everyone who buys direct from C2CE get support well beyond what’s required.

That Vigilante398 has responded at all on an issue that is “not of his making” is a testament to his generosity not a dodge.

Again, we understand your frustration, please accept the offer of help you are given on this forum. We would like to help you get your project completed.

So if the BOM is not of c2ce’s making, musikding has just willed a BOM into being? 7 days until I intitiate a chargeback. An e-mail will stop the chargeback. It’s embarrassing that I had to drag this into public to get a reply.

The BOM was created by me and it had mistakes in it. I will openly admit and apologize for this. I am not afraid to admit that documentation is my least favorite part of these projects, so I often try to speed things up by copy-pasting previous build documents as a starting point/template. In this case I missed updating some parts on Tungsten, and it looks like the pot values came from Nobelium, which is where I believe I copied the template from. This was my mistake, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Issues like this have come up before, and I consistently say that if the BOM disagrees with the silkscreen, follow the silkscreen. Obviously this doesn't help you when you purchase a kit that was compiled based on a BOM with mistakes in it, but ideally Klaus could have communicated this to me, and I could have told him what needed to be changed in the BOM. I don't want to say that Klaus is to blame because obviously he was just following my BOM (until he sent 16mm pots, which I have never used in C2C projects), but effective three-way communication would have saved a lot of time taking care of this.

So I will apologize again because this problem was inherently my fault, but I will also say that because you purchased from Musikding, I was hoping he would help resolve this as he always has in the past (as far as I know). So I will once again apologize for the inconvenience, and would say that if Klaus hasn't responded since your last communication with him then I think a chargeback is probably the right thing to do. Klaus does not work for me and I do not work for him, we are affiliated only in that he distributes my PCBs in his kits, but I have always believed him to be a good guy that is trying his best to take care of things.
