Two Sticks of Derm

I'd like to build a pedal like that, but I want a gain control, too. Do it really clean up well with a volume in front of it? Or where I can place a gain control in alternative?
Thanks!

Bump for info

FinebyFine, how many mm wide is the PCB, SVP?

It looks close to fitting 1590A, too close to tell by eyeballing it.

Top-Ten Reasons Two Sticks of Derm Is Rising to the Top of My 'Short List':
1. All the accolades it keeps receiving.
2. I keep running across it due to #1 above.
3. All the demos confirm #1 above, it sounds good.
4. Simple circuit, I like simple — especially fuzz.
5. Cheap parts list, I've got a ton of 2N3904.
6. Looks like it'd almost fit 1590A, definitely squeezable into 1590G.
7. I like one-knob fuzzes, well, one-knob any-type pedals.
8. You can never have too much fuzz.
9. It's a great name, & my brain has begun to reconcile that "Two Sticks of Derm" doesn't mean 2 different fuzz-pedal builds of the same circuit.
10. It is reportedly good on bass, and indeed the demo on bass sounded good.

Ahh who am I kidding. I'll probably order it whether it fits 1590A or not...

@Elijah-Baley — just run the input wire from your switch (the one meant to go to the main PCB) to lug 3 of a pot, wiper to the board, lug 1 to ground. You'll have to experiment with pot values to find one you like, try 10k to 100k, and maybe you want a minimum resistance to ground, stick a 10k resistor or so between lug 1 and ground.

Alternatively or even in addition, you could try a 5k pot in place of R4. I'd guess a minimum-resistance here would be even more desirable, maybe 500-Ohms?

Thank you. I'm going to try those tricks when I'll build it.
