The "35" is meaningless, just me trying to create a unique thread title.
It occurred to me at some point that I could have bought a new SD-1 for not much more than it cost me to build this one, but (1) I had the fun of building it and (2) mine's cooler and features a lot more purple than the original.
I wanted to evoke the original's yellowness but I also wanted to use my purple Boss-style knobs. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
Build notes:
I used a pair of 2SC1815s to substitute for the 2SC732s.
13.3K ohm resistor for the LED.
Everything else is standard.
Easy build, and it sounds great. There's not much variety in it, it really only does one thing, but it does that thing very well. One day soon I'll hook up 7 overdrives and directly compare them, but for the moment I'm happy to say this one sounds really nice. Is it better than the other couple of dozen overdrives I own? I'd say it's in the top 5.
