My Ground Advantage order from PedalPCB got a free cross-country July 4th weekend trip from Jacksonville, Florida to California and back. It still says it will be delivered today, but its still ~3 hours away from me. Not happening, but hopefully it will finish the normal route to south Florida tomorrow..

In any event, thanks Robert for getting it out the door quickly..

Have a UPS package that's been sitting on the other side of town since 8am Friday. So, brown truck guys aren't doing much better.

Joking aside, the weirdest thing is that over the last few years DHL has been more solid than anyone. Something I wouldn't have said before. Also, kudos, OP, for not jumping to blame PPCB/Robert because the courier is crap 🤡
Point taken

I wonder if these crazy routes are due to ineffeciencies, or if they are actually saving shipping companies money--perhaps getting from A->B cheapest means leveraging existing scheduled hops even if they seem ridiculous.

Sure

I recently had an incoming shipment make it all the way to Atlanta then took a quick detour through Saudi Arabia before being delivered.

OP here and now a completely different one. I sent something from South FL to Orlando. It is ping ponging between Austin and Houston

Maybe time to stop using Ground "(Dis)Advantage". This is just ludicrous

I find watching the routes taken by packages both insightful and infuriating. I've watched packages make it to my local post office to turn around and be sent right back out to another town and then back. I figure most of these come down to a package being mis-sorted by a machine. I just wish it happened to other folk's packages and not mine!

It happens time to time here. Local post office people tell me the main sorting facility in Omaha is way understaffed and has major issues getting stuff right.

Here in far off Western Australia I have only had fantastic results from DHL. I usually get my Tayda stuff through DHL. Not only is it super inexpensive, it gets here in a few days and they deliver even on Sundays. The delivery guys are always super friendly and helpful - Once I was walking down the street and the DHL guy recognised me as he drove past and asked if I wanted my package there and then as he had just tried to deliver it to my pace and I wasn't home. I guess it helps that I am always friendly to the delivery guys too. I like being friendly to people doing boring jobs. I used to be that guy and having fun, friendly interactions with customers can make a shitty day seem better.
