Here’s my build report. I’ve built a lot of fucking pedals. This was, hands down, the worst build experience I’ve ever had.

SO bad that as I neared the final turn of a long and winding road full of supply issues and mismarked components, I lifted a fucking pad. And then I lifted the board and threw it on the floor. Then I stomped it. Then I introduced it to my sledge.

We all strive to be better humans one day at a time. I’ll try harder tomorrow. Today was smashy time. Fuck. That. Build.

Another time, I threw a plastic beach-lounge-chair off the roof of a 3-story building. I made sure no one was below and then set sail to it...

Smashed into a bazillion bits. VERY SATISFYING. Didn't mind at all sweeping up the bits, was amazed at how far the shattered detritus reached — totally worth it.


Every now and then, some catharsis is good for the soul.

On the upside (I guess), I did not destroy the switching board, and I socketed (LOL) relay and the pic. So if anybody wants either of those, or a V3 switching board already populated and ready to rock, lemme know!!

Reminds me of the time in high school when I got angry and chucked my Nokia across the student parking lot. Cracked the concrete in 3 places and I had to pay a fine to fill the holes!

I only bought it because I’m chasing DS-1s lol. Did not know anything about vfe beforehand. If other people dig it and want to suffer, who am I to squash their bliss? Not the projects for me lol. I should’ve just given it a pass at “relay bypass”.

I really enjoy it in front of a marshall style amp as a dirty boost. It is a really cool versatile pedal.

With the vfe builds they demand a butt load of your time, weird parts and too much stuffed into a small package.

That being said, I feel like they elevated my abilities with the challenge.

And I will probably never build them again.

Geez, I always thought the VFE's were sort of a builder's right of passage. Not ashamed to admit I've built them ALL. I've mastered the art of not torching every cap on the board when you solder in the pots. So everyone except that last two looks like I took a blow torch to the caps

In the end, too many knobs and buttons, but that's part of the VFE mindset. And as noted above you either dig em or you don't.
