Vongon Paragraphs

Interestingly, most foundational aspects of Paragraphs are actually pretty clearly elucidated reading the description and looking at the features and control names. Vongon states themselves that the filter is a resonant low-pass built on an AS3320, something not unlike the Sequential Pro-One. It appears to have op amp gain stages with variable drive before and after.
As for the envelope generation, the control names, mode switch and features present lead me to believe it is one of ElectricDruid’s ENVGEN8 chips, or uses nearly the same code.
I breadboarded out something I believed could be similar to what Vongon uses, really just a box standard Pro-One filter arrangement with a datasheet copied ENVGEN, and while my cutoff sweep was pretty terrible (likely due to not experimenting with more guitar-centric component values) and not all the modes behaved exactly the same (which is likely due to a probably less than ideal guitar to gate signal converter) I actually got a LOT of the same sounds happening and it was quite nice. Very organic, bubbly tremolo/phase/near chorus/vibe sounds. I’m assuming the trigger function is basically just a momentary switch linked to a voltage.
The circuit might be fun to try with other classic filters; MS-20, Steiner, ect. I’ve got a mind to try it with a ladder if I decided to really drive myself insane.

Anyway, maybe it’s less wish list than it is sharing what I’ve learned in the hopes someone smarter might figure out something neat. For some reason I’ve had a terrible time trying to make envelopes, control voltages and stuff like gate/trigger signals operate the way I’d like but my pedal building is still in its infancy so maybe someday.

Oh and since that wasn’t long winded enough, I also tried the ENVGEN with a basic 2181 VCA setup to see if I could get anything like the Onset swell happening, and actually yes it produced a lovely volume swell, until it distorts into garbage. But still, a starting point.
