What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Polished the new Les Paul's frets with a Dremel!

Because the frets are basically brand new I did a pass of 0000 steel wool first just to scrap off any surface residue, and then polished with an "Ultra-Cut" polishing compound. I only spent about 4 seconds per fret so as not to heat up the glue in each slot. After only 2 passes they were done!

The majority of the work is in carefully taping off the fretboard. The polishing compound can easily get in the pores of the rosewood so I bought different sizes of tape to really get up against the fret.

Afterwords I cleaned up the fretboard and oiled it pretty well. Big-Bends in the nut, minor truss tweak and voila! Frets feel smooth as glass and shiny as a mirror!

I'm trying to "baritone" one of my fender scale guitars. I put some 12-56 or whatever strings on and it's just barely working with my current nut but it would be better with wider string slots

Does anyone know of a source for baritone guitar nuts that are preslotted or are yall filing your own slots?

You could try Stew Mac, but you are probably gonna need to file them yourself (they usually come slotted but not deep enough). I don’t know if Warmoth sells just nuts but it may be worth a shot.

Finishing up on some hand build AMI (Andrews Music Innovations) single coils. An EJ+ Strat set, an Old Steel Tele and an Esquire Tele.

Friend of mine called me up. He found this at a barn sale or something. I have no idea, it obviously was either in a very humid environment or it got wet. And yes that is mold on the speaker. It powered on but didnt pass audio. When i went to scope it if i turned my tone generator way up, i could faintly hear it.

V2a had a bad load resistor….

Surprisingly the tubes are still good (though i havent tap tested the pre amp tubes, i hearing some noises i think are bad pre amp tubes). But it works… lol. IMG_8302.jpeg IMG_8304.jpeg IMG_8305.jpeg IMG_7663.jpeg IMG_7661.jpeg

Laserjet filmfree decals. After you do a few it ends up being pretty fast.

I tend to have a few imperfections in a batch but they are just for me, to get stepped on, and ‘hand made’. So I don’t sweat it :)

"Filmfree". That is a new one to me - thank you! I have been using standard waterslide decals for a while. What is the main difference? Is it like a temporary tattoo ruboff?

Yeah, kind of like a temporary tattoo (in fact the company sells a product for that too). The glue makes the printer ink adhere. It’s really robust, especially if you ‘bake’ them.

The great migration begins. Need more room for caps, so they're swapping cabinets(?) with the resistors. Pots are 50/50 whether they stay or not

We're back in bidness

Going to take some getting used to, because I've been reaching for resistors on the right for several years now. #worth_it

Would this be your source? I'm adapting the useless "ground" position hole on the Bassman I'm adapting to a three way NFB (Bassman, Plexi, Raw) and would like to apply the lettering directly to the face.

That’s the stuff. You can find it on Amazon where it’s cheaper.
