What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Looking over a contributor's revised 125B layout version of my open source bass/acoustic instrument preamp this morning. It'll now fit in a standard pattern Tayda drilled enclosure, and I've finally located some dual antilog pots with bent PC pins. Those pots would be the only non Tayda parts needed, and they're from Small Bear.

Exqueeze my ignorance, sir, what is BYOC? Bring Your Own Capacitors?
I do think that Bring Your Own Capacitors is a great recipe for a nerd party. Ooooh, back in high school, we'd plug 1uF/400V film caps into a 220V outlet, then hand them to unsuspecting "friends" -- of course, while being careful not to touch the terminals ourselves, to avoid ruining the "surprise", muhahaha

The old one looks more like mahogany than pine.

My understanding is that 2x4's did in fact used to be 2x4, they we started planing them to make them flatter/cleaner (I assume because we needed to use boards from nearer the outside of the tree). So a board that "started as 2x4, before it was planed" is still referred to as a 2x4.

Or that's a rural legend I happily accommodated into my personal confirmation bias.... (maybe I've been watching too much philosophy vids on YouTube)

Last build in this series, and I often keep the last builds for myself. It'll most likely be an always-on pedal, so I'm weighing up possible footswitch functions, jack and LED placement options, knob selection, etc.

Nope! A regular customer of mine rang me up two days ago to check in about a few upcoming onboard preamp builds. Eventually these new pedals came up, followed very shortly by "want!', then "You've Got Money." So no soup for me this time. Oh well...onward!

I'll probably end up doing some new permutation in Gorvas, maybe with some more bling on the graphics side as well. The Cusack 1590BBS enclosures as pictured are pretty nice to work with though.

shouldn't there be a cut under D1?

There is a cut under D1, a BIG CUT named Harvey sitting right there, only you can't see it, Carmine!

Meanwhile, back in the FFFX skunk-works lab and on the bench we have...

From the same friend that loaned me his Ace Tone amp and a couple of pedals, the yellow box above was gifted to me to use as a pedal enclosure.

Anybody know/guess what it is? ;)

Clues: the outputs are 6.35mm (1/4"). It runs on 110V but switchable to 230V, current is regulated. The nice aluminum knob sits on a pot that spins 360º 5x between lock-to-lock ("10 turn adjustment"). I'll needle you with more clues later, if need be, but that's all the digital ink I'll spill at the moment.

It's only been used about a dozen times and is in mint condition. There are aspects about it that I may wind up using it not as a pedal at all, but still pedal related.

I was thinking of making the footswitch a momentary stutter dealio, or to trigger a high-low expression-pedal condition on my M5...

Was thinking of maybe rehousing my Future Impact into this yellow cur of a box, or build a ??? into it... What would you house in it, if not using it for something close to its original intended purpose in manufacture?

Suggestions, ideas & epithets welcomed.
