What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

IMG_0338 Copy.jpeg
Almost all of my building time has been dedicated to this for the last eight weeks or so. I glued up a body blank for a tele project and decided to level it with hand planes to force myself to learn to use and sharpen hand tools. I thought it was going well until I remembered I'm bad at math. Originally the body was ~1.85" in width. Removing 0.1 of an inch with planes isn't so bad. Except I wanted to glue on a 1/4" maple top. I eventually caved and flattened everything with an electric plane. *Not pictured: my thickness planer that could have done this job in 15 minutes.

Hey everyone! I know I said I was going to make 3 but I decided to make another to give away! I was going to anodize the walls but the first round didn’t go as well as I would have liked…the colors for the walls would’ve been brown to resemble wooden walls. I’m going to be honest in saying the phantom clear coat ones didn’t come out as well as the black ones but I think anyone who gets one will hopefully enjoy it regardless!

I’m giving these away in a raffle starting next week! I will be making a post on Monday for those who would like to participate!

Happy Holidays!

I don’t know what that is, but I need to have one.

I put the Drömtydning together, worked correctly on first try! Really liking how it looks, although it's a bit darker in real life. Also sounds quite nice and interesting, even though I'm not sold on using the fuzz for fuzzy stuff - maybe going into a tube amp it might work better than in a post-amp loop on the Quad Cortex. But I'm fine without having it fuzz, the modulation side is more what I'm interested in personally.

Edit: I used a NE5532 for the op-amp, plus there's the feedback mod, but everything else is standard. Found the XR2206 from the most barebones possible zen cart store in whole of Finland, where the conditions of use literally say "Conditions of Use Sample Text ...", but that's how you know it's legit - nobody would put so little effort into a scam site. Only threat there was probably if the owner had died and the website was still up because it's running on a desktop computer in some closet.

Edit2: I think I'll mod the feedback mod further by adding a series resistor, it bypasses the feedback resistor completely and ramps up too quick, I think I can balance it a bit so it feeds back, but not nearly instantly, just a little bit slower, making it more useful. I think I'll have to rig it up so I can test resistors while it's online, or maybe put a trimmer in instead

Trippy artwork... Any chance you have the Tayda drill coordinates for this one? I've had it sitting in the queue for some time, but I'm not feeling all that confident with my freehand drill skills (hey, that rhymes!).

Sure! Does this link work? https://drill.taydakits.com/box-designs/new?public_key=UEJpT3ArYnRnak4wTTFnSVFlaUpGUT09Cg==

I think everything worked just fine with the drill template with no modifications, but do keep in mind it's made for an outie DC jack, so modify that and the LED hole size for your liking.

Oh, and I can definitely recommend the trimmer for the feedback mod if you go for it (there's a hole for it obviously in the drill template), I feel like it's absolutely worth it for the tiny hassle of using an extra trimmer.

Remember this? ☝️

The ref-des (and values) are on the board, all the components reveal their values, whether printed or striped on...

Honestly, I don't know why this thing has never been traced. It's certainly not as popular as Zenny-thing else Alf made, but it still has a following.
Maybe untraced since it wasn't a challenge?

Anyway, I had to rely on good ol' pencil & paper, initially...

Now that I've got my 'puter back from the fixit-limbo, I've started to draught a proper schematic.
Planning on making this a full project...
...if everything goes...
TIKI-T-BOO!

Just scored a pair of NUX C-5RC and due to the fact that I work in a music store these got brought to my attention. I'm surprised I haven't heard of these before. Wireless bugs with a little transmit and receive module. Come with a charger/case (like overstuffed iPODs) and has great latency and audio specs with a 30m/100' range

Finally finished my HF-2 clone thanks to Blackhat Boojum and really couldn't be happier. Just a great sounding flanger and a very nice layout. I didn't deviate much from his ethos other than totally ripping off the Boss artwork (including the font no less). This is a superb flanger at doing subtle stuff which is exactly what I'm looking for. My L6 MM4 does a pretty cool approximation with a bit of tweaking (subtle stuff, that is, with an MXR flavor) but this nails it. If memory serves this is a Tayda enclosure with a waterslide decal and a nice single hit of gloss lacquer over it.

I love it! Knocked it out of the park 🤘.

Excellent! Need to get an order of enclosures in before the tariffs go into effect. Or at least I assume Tayda will add those costs... I know GuitarPCB & DigiKey already posted notices about price increases
