What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

All finished with new strings and setup as good as I can. Intonation is correct - just took some adjustment of the placement of the bridge.

I contacted CME to get some idea of a price for the owner to list it at, and we’ll see how they respond. I can’t find any comps online at all. One sold not to long ago for about $1500.

Finished building up a Trek 5500 OCLV frame. I bought the frame from ebay for cheat. Frame was usable but in poor cosmetic condition. The cable guides were glued on horrendously.

I stripped the finish down to the bare carbon, sprayed a rainbow metallic colorshift and a matte clearcoat. New waterslide decals were applied in tribute to the USPS 5500 which was used to win the Tour de France seven times. We all know Lance's wins were invalidated but no runners up were announced because everybody was doping. So in my mind, at least the bike gets to keep its pedigree.

found this guy selling 3d printed battery adapters for the rockman but I balked at what he was charging for the power supply as well so we're doing our own thing.
btw this power supply deal didn't last long ... the rockman unit was DOA upon testing with batteries first ... ended up with a X100 with rockadapter instead and a refund on the iib which means this 3d printed power adapter is now gathering dust. sometimes its fun to follow up with our dead ends and failures because not everything works out according to plan

Neumann microphone power supply. "Made in Germany". Over $1000 new. Goes with a $3500 M147 tube mic.

What's in it? An off-the-shelf, external, "line-lump" PSU, jerry-rigged inside the enclosure with a bracket and some pieces of foam, feeding a PCB that generates the actual voltages the mic needs. Looks kind of like something one of us might have cobbled together as a quick one-off.

$10 for the line lump, $990 for the PCB + box, I guess?

IMG_1411.jpeg Helped a friend get his pinball machine working again this afternoon; fortunately, he had a schematic for it. (Otherwise, I don’t know how many weeks trying to sort out the cable bundles would take, and I don’t know if I would have the gumption to stick it out.) Luckily, it was pretty straightforward. At some point, we’re going to go through it and clean up all the relay contacts, but everything works as is now.

I think I’m mainly posting this because the guts are so damn beautiful. IMG_1410.jpeg

Coffee. That is what has been on my work bench today. Coffee.

Working from home, I was taking a lunch break and thought I would get through some of Wampler's classes. I have my macbook open, video loaded, pulling out my protoboard, accidentally knocked over my coffee and it spills RIGHT onto the macbook keyboard. Didn't even have time to shut it down, it did it on it's own. Preeeeeeeeety sure it is toast but we shall see. Cleaned it up as best I could, letting it dry out for a day or 3.

Positive news - the work laptop. protoboard and all pedal building items were not harmed in this accident.
