Chris you still have the Pelham SG? Or am I cross pollinating gear lust objects...

Last time I was at Chicago Music Exchange I saw a (then) new SG in Pelham with P90's and a wraparound tailpiece with a chunky neck. I was in love. Then I flipped over the price tag. I had to go outside and have a good cry.

Unfortunately not, it was a heavy beast at 9 pounds, it was Les Paul weight lol and it had terrible neck dive. I really struggled to bond with it. My Les Paul Special is light as a feather and no neck dive and does "that" tone in spades

Totally get all of that - except no.1 because 95% of the world relies on metric…
 
My first module is going to give me my most stressful drilling session yet. Gonna cram the eurorack version of the "Dune 2 synth" into a box with its own power module. So many holes. I hope I am capable enough by now to desolder and connect the mini TRS jacks into full sized sockets on top, alongside the in- and output jacks, which saves me 6 little holes on the front. Also not going to cut those rectangular switch gaps. The USB one looks doable with some calm filing. The screen ought to be easy.

I came back from vacation and the machine I never turn off (except when I go on vacation) did not start up, so this is my first priority. It looks like a baked controller.

It’s a double productivity hit - both having to put my time into the repair, and the impact of living in low-caffeination state.

Instead of finishing these (and their kin)

Almost done with the wooden pieces. Two amp compartments on the left and right sides, and a connection box in the middle. Optional closed, semi-closed and open back panels are done (though I might need to make these panels deeper (pop out more ala CRT tvs) if the closed sound isn't to my liking).

Pondering the next step: plating the whole cabinet with 0.5mm zinc plates steel sheets. And with the lid on top I can start figuring out how the modular pre-amp and effects section should look.I really look forward of dealing with metal, because all the router dust right in my bed- / living- / workroom is a fucking pain.

Stretch metal fencing for the grill has been ordered as well. (2x2cm "diamonds" (?))

If I stop drinking coffee for two or more days, I'll end up with severly aching muscles all over my body (magnesium pills help a lot with this though). Hope you don't suffer from this, because it's really unhelpful when you want to get shit done. 😅
