What's on the drawing board? 🎨🖌️

A computer….lol. I don’t like taking other peoples art without compensation, and I nether have the time or the extent of artistic ability in digital media.

Neat!
Your graphic design work is always on-point and an artform in itself- my last post was poorly worded.
Hope to see it in existence soon!

Thanks! I got a few more in the works, it might be a month or more. It’s a game of inches for me.

Working on a design for the Sushi Box Particle Accelerator Nathan dropped off today...
Going to be an acid etch (naturally) glowing red marble, orange backlighting of the tube and I'll probably keep doing that perforated plate thing I came up with to same my MB Archibald build.

What's this perf'd plate dealio? I Was thinking of something similar on the sides' bottom and top, but your plate looks way cooler.

Standoffs or ...?

Looks very industrial-hotrod, I love it.

Yeah—I always enjoy your designs, but that plate is such an elegant solution! And easily achieved, if you have access to a few tools. Really nice! You put the seam in the back?

Well.... long story... happy accident...

I botched the L-header pin bar in my Madbean Archibald build. It connects the tube daughter board to the main PCB so you can orient the tube parallel to the board. Naturally, I soldered it to the wrong side of the board. Desoldering plastic-braced set of 16 pins just doesn't end well... reminded me of the last time I made S'mores...

Rather than wait for a new bracket I just made an array of L shaped jumpers, ONLY..... I wasn't careful with my measuring and ended up with the tube being too far from teh board, which made the whole thing too deep for a 1590BB...

After some friendly suggestions by the neighbors in the forum I hade a brainstorm to put a grille in there.

I bought a sheet of perforated steel for about $20 on ebay, messed around with a few runs through the bandsaw and BAM. piece of cake...
I am ABSOLUTELY going to do the same treatment on all of my tube pedal builds.

There is actually a seam in the front, and the back. The sheet is only 12" so you kind of have to wrap it.

I use the disk of my belt sander to get the pattern to match on the front and then just got it kinda close on the back. It actually almost matches on both front and back but that was not really intentional.

I thought about putting some sort of small plate, rivets, or chainlink to connect the front but haven't worried too much about it.

For grins I tried soldering them... HA. not even...

Oh... Good question on the Standoffs.

I happened to find some screws that came from some enclosure I bought that were (just) long enough to get maybe a full turn or so of purchase.
otherwise I would have had to re-tap the enclosure holes and use a bigger machine screw.

The thread and pitch of those enclosures it not something you can by "slightly longer" screws for at Ace Hardware...

I'm building a Touch Stone chorus which is MadBean's take on the EHX Small Clone.

So wtf kind of graphic says 'clone?'

Two-headed Dolly the sheep?
-not exactly SCHMORG style. Keep thinking.

Did a little research to get an elementary grasp on how past cloning has been done. Watched a video and found this little diagram:

I thought the moment where the two cells fuse together was pretty far-out so I decided to focus on that and did some sketching:

I'm a sucker for patterns so I 'boiled down' the idea of the cells, did a little measuring, geometry and tweaking to get this here:

Anyhow, I deem it 'SCHMORG-worthy.'

Indeed

It's what I call an alternative pedal/board build style I've been developing for a few years.

This is a photo of a really old set-up☝️
There'll be some new pictures soon- I'm tearing the whole thing down and reorganizing it with some new builds *today.*
Oh yeah. I've seen your previous posts and totally dig the thinking behind it. And of course, the sweeeeet designs and etching.
My background is in design and digital graphic arts. (currently work for Adobe) and I got my masters at a design school.

Plus, I accidentally built my first pedal upside down so I kinda feel like we're related somehow...

SCHMORG!!!

*Don't forget our unnecessarily complicated lighting assemblies- we're basically twins!

That's super cool you're working in design- I tried but realized it wasn't for me. I still do jobs sometimes but only cool stuff for cool people, that way whatever I'm doing for money at my day job isn't chained directly to my soul.

*Hey, will you do me a favor and please ask Mr. Adobe to lower his cursed prices?

I just might be able to help you out there...
