Who has cannibalized old builds?

Starting to realize how handy socketing transistors was in the past. I have a few builds that I won’t sell and won’t use and am pretty tempted to reuse the jacks switches and transistors for future builds. It always sucks when you goto finish a build and forgot to order more jacks or FS’s. I’m stocked up now but I think I’m ready if the need arises to start pulling parts…

I’ve done this before with builds that have failed, and are on the Island of Misfit Pedals. Short a jack? Footswitch? A squirtgun that shoots jelly?

I've got a pile of unfinished builds I've "borrowed" transistors and IC's off of until I get around to "finishing" them

I have. I needed a couple of j201s, so I pulled them out of my BSIAB2 and replaced them with two out-of-spec 2n5747s. I think the pedal sounded even better after this too.

If I have a board that I’d dead or trashed or not being used, I typically strip it of useful parts right away so it’s not sitting around.

...and then sell it on Reverb?

I've only ever sold a handful of things on reverb, and only two of my own builds.
