YouTubers/Internet Content Creators

I think it’d be cool to have a thread for sharing YouTubers and other internet content creators you enjoy. I’ll start!

First is Mortiz Klein

I have not ventured into DIY synth stuff yet, but this guy makes top quality videos that provide simple explanations and practical examples for various modules. He recently released a video showing off his new kit project with Erica Synths.

Next up is Kris Slyka

He doesn’t upload too often, but the video above is the first one I saw which I believe he shared on Reddit. I just thought it was neat to see some out of the box design thinking. He has a couple other interesting projects.

These examples are musical electronics oriented, but I welcome you to deviate and share creators from other spaces as well.

The cynic in me thought this was a thread where we bash awful YouTube pedal shills.

If you haven’t checked out Pat Finnerty you are really missing out. He’s like the anti-Beato (also love Ricks channel). His schtick is “What makes this song stink?”

Also +1 for @jjjimi84s videos. Great playing and diy walkthrough. There are some other channels out there that talk about diy builds but the demos are just bad.

Haha yea there’s a lot of shilling and pedal myths being touted around on YouTube. But I think it’s more productive to bring attention to creators we each enjoy.

I’ll have to check out Pat Finnerty, “what make’s this song stink” sounds pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing.

The nice thing about my channel is it is specifically for all of us nut jobs and if there is anything anyone on the forums want to see it is a simple DM and it gets added to the list.

The only self promotion i have ever done…

I used like a lot of the usual guys and watched them all but it has gotten pretty same-y. Guys like Eric Haugen and Tom Bukovac have been really great because it is more about playing and that is the one area I want to really improve.

Dave Simpson’s old series “how many tones can you get out of an orange cr120” is an anti-shill. It’s 30 videos of him matching famous tones using that amp.

It’s the exact opposite of “buy all this crap to sound like Mark Knopfler. Then join us next week for our list of more crap you need to buy to sound like Slash”

Does it Doom channel is good for song lessons in doom/stoner metal.

Music related:
Adam Neely, 12tone, look mum no computer, Simon the magpie, TPS

Makers of things other than pedals: Peter Brown(shop time), Fran Blanche (she's more than just the patron saint of bmp variants), food wishes, Nick Zammeti (turning), Michael Alm (wood working), Ishitani Furniture
Great list! Love Adam Neely, 12tone, LMNC, and Simon. I’m also subbed to Peter Brown, his resin and turning projects are so satisfying. I stop by Fran’s channel every now and again. She is incredibly curious and covers many interesting things, kind of reminds me of Adam Savage in that way.

I went through Food Wishes a lot when I was on a culinary kick a few years ago. He has a soothing voice too.

I’ll definitely check out the others you mentioned.

Info, instructional, guitar related tidbits:
Ask Zac, Josh Smith, Guthrie Trapp, Uncle Larry, Matthew Scott & Justin Johnson.

Demo’s: Unless I’m interested in something particular, I don’t watch many except Clifton Wright (because I like his playing) and an occasional Pedal Show.

Build/repair vids:
Uncle Doug, Psionic Audio, D-Lab, DWOFS, twoodfrd & stringtech. I like to watch Jay Nelson paint Fender bodies too…relaxing.

For you Tele lovers check out Lucky Dog guitar on FB. Awesome work and a really great guy!

I love ask Zac. Probably my second favorite YouTube channel.

Has psionic audio ever thought an amp wasn't trash?
Did anybody mention Mike Hermans? I know that demos can often be misleading, so I just watch his because I enjoy his playing!
I get so disappointed every time I try to watch a demo and it's Mike Hermans!

Zac’s so laid back and cool. Just watched his new vid a bit ago.
As for Lyle, lol yes, he hasn’t met an amp he likes (except Suhr I think). I do appreciate his bluntness though and he’s responded to a couple of my questions, which I appreciate. I would buy his Excalibre 15 in a heartbeat (once it’s in production) if I could afford it.

I just found this guy's video. I noticed at the 6 minute mark he shows a pedal which appears to be made by @Danbieranowski.

I like your channel Dan. I wish you showed more of the building process, aka DIY pedal porn but I know it's hard to film and edit. Keep up the good work.

Dan's got a great channel. Nice and authentic, not good for the backlog though.. :D

I enjoy Phil McKnight, good insights into the instrument sales market, and he got me into being my own guitar tech. Gives a good feeling of authenticity, love his "Gibson is what it is quality wise, but they hold their value well" love/hate relationship.

Pete Thorn is another one who I love to watch to get tone insights.

All three of the above come across as humble and down-to-earth. The last thing I want to see is someone like Paul Davids who shows too much of his true nature. I have enough arrogance in the mirror!

Kley De Jong
is also an interesting watch for DIY building. Headfirst Amplification for DIY amp stuff.

Outside of music:
M539 Restorations for watching a normal guy restoring old BMWs.
Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles for technical deep dives into airplane topics.
David Pearson for an awesome accent talking about bushcraft tips and things I can build on my little patch of forest.
