View attachment 23322Not my current set up… it’s all in boxes at the moment. But this was most of it from about 3 year’s ago
That natural coloured neck-thru on the right reminds me of a very similar (or the same?) looking guitar I borrowed from a friend soon after I started playing guitar (I only had an acoustic then). Some old Japanese made guitar from the 70’s that I think said ‘Memphis’ on the headstock, that was his dads.

I’m also left handed so I played it upside down but strung lefty. I liked it, I wanted to buy it from him but he wouldn’t sell it.

Talk about a blast from the past (for me), that was probably 20 years ago

Mine is a Harmony from the 70s same era when Gibson was suing everyone (Memphis was one of them for sure) my dad traded some tools to a pawn shop to get me this guitar when I was about 12.

@peccary how you's like that drumbrute impact? Mine sounds killer through the calamity fuzz.

Also through my plasma pedal. I gotta admit I find the distortion control on it a little underwhelming. Maybe that's just cause I'm looking at it to do, like, NIN-ish stuff.
I really like the DBI. It's a lot of fun and I think pretty intuitive. It's really easy to get a beat set up and then extend and layer. It's also easy to just set up a quick beat to play bass over. The FM drum is a lot of fun, too. I really like hardware even though I know it's more limiting than software. I'm a tactile guy, I guess.

The distortion is pretty tame but I think it can change the feel of it enough to be useful. But yeah, it's not going to get you anywhere near NIN. I actually haven't used any pedals on this, which is kind of embarrassing to admit! I've used a lot of them on the Microbrute, but getting some grit on those drums is a great idea and I'll have to do that.

Here's a terrible picture of my current studio/office space:

I took it in November and it's a bit more organized right now and you can actually open the keyboard stand lid. We are in the process of renovating a townhouse where I will have an actual music room in the basement. Can't wait!

I've got that one too 😄. Really eyein the microfreak these days, especially now that they've unlocked the vocoder functionality via firmware update...I'll probably end up selling my novation mininova. It's vocoder stuff is balls anyways.

A good gated fuzz on the drumbrute will get ya right into year zero territory.

Part of why I'm trying to clean and organize...I built that desk over a year and a half ago so I'd have more space for my keys. It's...ah...been co-opted by other science experiments.

Here's my music cave. Sorry about the distorted angles, did a panorama on cellphone to get the small room all in a picture... no it is not curved amp and stompbox enclosures. Lol...

This will all be gone in about 6 months or so, packed up and going into a new music room in a new place. Excited about that too, and I thought I better take photos and post it before packing up.

You all seem to be very clean and tidy. In a different style : IMG_20220317_030444.jpg that's 90% of my effects (the rest is with family and friends). You are looking at diy shelves, so I don't always have to get down to adjust some control. I always play sitting on a chair. I just finished modding a CH-1, and before that, a second Flintlock build.
IMG_20220317_034011.jpg : more effects under the table (I always forgot them)
IMG_20220317_030719.jpg Some instruments, 2 guitars, a bass and a drum machine (chimney is blocked with bricks, but the sound still pass through two levels of apartments...hence the wooden plank, as a poor attempt to get some peace of mind)

Amps on the right (bass & guitar amp) : IMG_20220317_030003.jpg
Left (same) : IMG_20220317_030137.jpg

Under the left amps, a led connected to the intercom, to know when friends or neighboors are knocking on my door (not really efficient) :

And there is a nice studio smell in the air...probably from the amps.
