I just got news that the transformer I have been waiting for from Mercury magnetics is now ready. Man, they have been terrible since the reliable Patrick Selfridge died late last year. He was on the ball and great to deal with and is much missed. I don't envy the new guy - it must be a steep learning curve. But it is very frustrating trying to get transformers from them.
Anyway, once the transformer arrives I will be able to replace the Mojo/Heyboer PT in my tweed Super/Pro 1x12 combo so I can run KT77s in it. My last Super ran KT77s and for me they sound much better than 6L6s. KT77s have a tougher midrange and just fill out the sound better. The 6L6s are good but the KT77s are great!
I the meantime I'm slowly getting some pine amp cabs tolexed. Applying tolex is my least favourite part of amp building, but it looks good once it's done. And when it's raining here I make pedals. I always do my tolexing in the garage with the doors open at each end because the glue stinks too much otherwise. When it rains it gets windy and I get wet.
