What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

What, where, who, when, why and how

What exactly? What projects are they for?
Where in the Ukraine shipped to where?
Who'd you buy them from?
When did you buy them, ie how long in transit?
Why so many, you have that many projects?
HOW MUCH $$$!?!
Couple of different D9x diodes for clipping options (50 of each)
PNP Germaniums (MP41A) that I’ve found are generally pretty reliable for fuzz face-ish circuit (lot of 50, untested so we’ll see!)
Odessa to Toronto
Alexer1 on eBay
I bought these in late October, just arrived today.
I have fewer projects than I have aspirations
I think it was about $68 delivered.

Not in my mailbox because I caught the bus to the shop and back. Real world, remember that? Yeah, it's overrated.

Anyway, behold the Jaycar Theremin Kit.

It's kind of crap and no doubt overpriced, but still very much more affordable and attainable than a Moog kit, here in Australia. And the parts seem pretty good to me, for the most part. Plastic box with ugly graphics. And a 3 inch speaker that I may not even hook up, since there's a connection for an output jack and it's well within my abilities to hook up a 6.35mm socket so I can run this thing through my effects boxes and into an amp.

It runs off 9V center positive, but I have several adaptors so I can run it off a standard pedal power supply.

The supplied build docs are pretty extensive, so that's nice. There's even a well-drawn schematic that I could photograph if anyone's particularly interested. And it has voltages noted for testing and adjustment.

I'm pretty happy with this kit, though it'll probably be next year before I put it together. There will surely be a build report, assuming I don't ruin it, and I don't think I will.

A GCS '64 ES-335 re-issue. It was a custom shop demo, and I got it @ 30% off! All flaws are cosmetic and I consider this instrument to be righteously-relic'd at the hands of aspiring guitarists. It's a cool guitar and I hope to have some fun with it.

Got some 2N5457 and LM13700, plus a smattering of PCBs (Muff'n, Phybes, Marsha, and Fat Cat Distortion) from GPCB.

I was mainly after the parts. For the longest time, for whatever reason, Barry wasn't shipping the LM13700s north of the border — they'd be greyed out on the website with a "Read Me" where the "Buy Now" button should be. Well suddenly it wasn't greyed out so I jumped on the sale and got several of the ICs.

Builds await...!

Okay, I'll turn it up. :ROFLMAO:

It's a really great guitar and I feel very fortunate to own it and the others. I also picked up a few "bedroom" amps; one arrived today and the others in the past week;

Marshall DSL1 tube, Soldano30 SS, Blackstar HT1 tube, and a HiWatt HI5 tube.

I’m guessing the Marshall dsl1 is 1watt? I always wondered about those!

Hmmmm that Hiwatt looks interesting, does it sound like a real hi watt?

edit: There's a theme here.... heehee

It is, but don't let that be any indicator of it's capabilities. It can get very loud and stay clean, or kick in that classic Marshall gain tone. The emulator/headphone out works better than others I've futzed with, and the FX loop does as expected. The reverb has given me no problems, and the triode-pentode switch is good for recording levels.

I need more time with it, but thusfar it is a very solid amp. It has a standby mode, which as a tube amp...I think it should. No reverb or FX loop but it pumps out some sound for a meager 5. I want to pick up a few more speakers to audition with each. I've also got a 1936V 2x12 I can use. Open to ideas.

Does the HiWatt sound like a HiWatt? Yes, I know what you mean :ROFLMAO: Give me some time with it. ;)
