The Captor and a cab sim changed my playing life. I could never look back.. enjoy!!

Yeah I'm planning on using mine for recording and playing at night when Thomas is in bed. I don't have neighbours so during the day is no problem. It'll be interesting to compare my Marshall and the Loadbox to my Helix. Will the real amp feel or sound much better than the digital solution?

If anyone's interested I can do some clips and post them up for a blind test? It won't be scientific and probably won't tell us much but quizes are always fun

I just Scored a captor X from market place. Hopefuly will arrive soon so I can get to finally crank my Trinity Amp up. Wow that thing is loud!! Be nice to finalkly be able to push those tubes.
Im hoping to pick up something like a focusrite to plug it all into my computer.

I was looking at the captor x originally but realised I could just run the regular captor into my Helix and use that as an IR loader and interface for my laptop. The extra attenuation would have been nice but I'm not sure I'd actually have used it.

Revised the EB-3 wiring diagram late last night-- took a look at it again this morning and immediately realized a glaring error. In solving one problem, I carelessly created another one. let's see if it jumps out to anyone– I'm sure it should be an easy error to spot. View attachment 33512
Revisiting this because I’ve been enjoying playing the EB-3 even without any electronics in it at the moment. Got a cheap artec mudbucker on the way, but I’m having trouble finding a good mini humbucker for the bridge. Anyone here have an EB-3 that they’ve done a pickup swap on?

I've not but I've been dreaming up a harley benton jbass upgrade lately. I abandoned a scratch eb3 project years ago (finally accepting the fact that the sg body looks funny on my large frame) so I have a novak fatbucker laying around. Might pair it with an artec by the neck and replace the bridge pu with a novak goldfoil (H22, I think) perhaps with a Jag type switch. I like the thought of a bass who's pickups are quadruple the cost of itself. It'll likely just be a studio toy and funny bizarro brother to my 74 p that's stock besides the pots.

Hopefully you get a more helpful response than this, lol.

That sounds awesome!

I’m trying to find something that fits the original mini humbucker format that
  1. Isn’t too expensive
  2. Doesn’t have 6 pole pieces (so firebird style, rail, four-pole, or gold foil)
  3. Has a decent output so it at least has some chance of competing with the 30kΩ mudbucker.
I might be willing to just route it for a bigger pickup, but it’s gotta be something really cool. If the BS-DS wasn’t so expensive I’d be tempted to go for that, but alas…
