What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Speaking of the Low Tide (which I wish was on my workbench now), I actually got the kit for it from Musikding due to the weird (to me, anyway) parts availability (as in, Tayda doesn't sell all of them).

Ordered on the 30th, shipped on the 1st.

Now if they would just actually ship it, because DHL still says they only have the electronic information...
That's Musikding for you. It'll ship in a week or so. Banzai is similar except you hear nothing for a week then it ships.

Surprised they had the kit. That's why they were out of single V3207Ds. I'm still missing that part and I can only get it from European stores that are 16 euros of DHL shipping away.
Sourcing parts sucks all the joy out of this.

The kit is again out of stock, so now I'm wondering if the delay is because they were actually out and had to order more stuff?

Before Musikding has shipped my stuff a few days after the "shipped" email, now it has been almost two weeks which is why I'm surprised about it.

Edit: And even if that was the case and they need to wait for more parts to arrive, at least I'd like to know about it.

Starting my first PedalPCB board build, thanks to one of @fig's contests. So naturally I chose one without documentation, the Crystal Lettuce Silver. I have everything but the pots on hand and could've stuffed it last night, but nope. Did a board trace instead and put the results into LTspice, figuring I might as well start looking at some mods which will inevitably end up happening, as I can never leave any design alone. The orginal it's cloned from is often billed as a preamp in a box, but it's pretty clearly just emulating the OD section of some specific Dumble build and will probably work pretty well with amps using a Fender-ish tone stack, as the Dumble schematics I've seen and built to all did. All good, I've done many FMV stacks with opamps in the past and I'm sure there are at least several PPCB boards that go there as well. My first few Spice sims were goofy as all get out, I blame improper caffeination. I think this one may be pretty real though, it at least matches up OK with what I heard from the one demo vid of the original that I've listened to so far:

CLS_1.PNG

Settings are Gain = max, Volume at roughly noon, Depth and Tone controls set at minimum, noon, and maximum. Effective mid boost peak looks to range from ~300Hz-1.8kHz. Max boost with Volume dimed is around 50dB or so. No guitar pickup emulation yet, but that would change things considerably if this box is first in the signal chain, of course.

I will probably just build to the stock config for now and do some RTA testing to confirm correlation to my model. Once the pots come in I'll post a proper build thread, on to the graphics next I reckon. Tried some AI generated hits on "crystal lettuce", and some variations using "lattice" with random modifiers, good for some ideas on doing my own at least!

Wait, your first pedal PCB build?

Just fired up my deflector reverb. Dear goodness this thing is like playing a wave of sound crashing into a thousand cathedrals. About punched a hole through my amp when it didn't fire up first time. Had the transistor in backwards 😬
Yeah, the Deflector reverb was a pleasantly huge surprise when I first fired mine up. Wholey cathedrals Batman! The setting on that thing are so vastly expansive to subtly minimal. I love it!

Slowly putting together a 2-in-1 build with the EL Buckler and the PPCB Thunder Chicken. I’m not sure if I’ll do an order switching function or just stick with one order.

Nice! Did you use something to cover pre-existing holes in the enclosure (is that what the black stuff is)?

I originally drilled the enclosure for an Electrovibe, but it ended up being too shallow for the lamp bulb. I filled in the holes with JB Weld (link). It works really well and is easy to use. I’ve attempted multiple paint jobs, hated them, and removed them. I might just kick it down the sidewalk a few times to complete the beat up look and call it a day.
