Who’s getting what 25% off!!

The one I'm interested in right now is the Candid Drive. Although do I need another Marshall style overdrive pedal??? Haha

Anyone love it or the OG Barber Direct Drive?
I keep saying I'm done with M-style overdrives, and then Robert keeps cranking out new ones I want.

This one has been on my wish list for a long while so I know I will build it. But right now, my queue is too long so I'll save it for a future batch.

Just picked up the Clandestine, Waddle Box, and Unchained, along with some components. I have some spots on my board that are being taken up by pedals that I enjoyed building but never really use – so it’s time to move them out for the new stuff.

No self control here! At least I got a bunch of small boxes that I have my current queue boards in, one per box, so that they make a noticeable stack on the shelf, reminding me that there’s work to be done.

More “cleanish” drives, a few that are builds I’ve promised friends, and a last minute addition, the Electrovibe. I went full sized, liking the ability to have two speeds. IMG_1339.jpeg

Some for friends and some for me. Interested in the Daily Driver changes after Robert mentioned them. Might do the CDB bass mod for the kliche but I sold my original so now I'm torn.

I sprung for an extra NE-1 bass EQ (first one built and about to be housed) and three General Tso’s, since it has rapidly become my favourite compressor. Squier Jazz Bass with DiMarzio’s through NE-1 and Tso sounds fab and brings out a nice range of harmonics.

I am thinking about a bass guitar combo pedal using these in a XX housing with a low gain overdrive as front end, NE-1 in the middle, and Tso at the end. Haven’t decided on the overdrive yet, but have the Mach 1, Amentum, Super ‘64, and Obtuse boost on their way.

Any suggestions or recommendations for a bass-friendly option gratefully received.

Meanwhile, the backlog grows and grows, along with the pressing question 🤔 of deciding where to begin.

My favorite low gain drive for bass at ppcb is the chop shop. It's simple and doesn't seem to eat all the lows. Although I'm sure it takes some, it wasn’t enough to bother me. Stays out of the way.

My favorite overall is the GCI NEW bass od. Some would say it has too many knobs and switches. That might be true but when these options provide you with your favorite light dirt, it seems like just enough knobs and switches.

Another is the dod fx91, I did the effects layouts Hot Bod but I noticed that moonn has released their layout of this circuit too, I think it was called the bassifier. Far less flexible than the gci but that makes it hard to screw up. Tone knob is subtle but effects the dry signal which is interesting. It also has a lot more gain than the GCI so it's more versatile in that way.

The kliche mini with the chuck d bones bass mods is worth consideration too, though I feel like that one shines with the gain up a bit more than "light od" territory. It does also do the light thing well but that's just not how I tend to use it. I keep it early in the chain and it sounds really good driving my other dirt boxes.

Phase II was a must this go-round. I finished the XC Phase recently and the block setting has some distortion I can't get rid of, but the script sounds just like a Phase 95 that I have in the drawer.

Planning for the Kliche to be a BAT41 build just to have that base covered. I have a Mythos Mjolnir 9V version with silicon diodes and it sounds pretty dang good.

what did you use for the JFET’s in your XC Phase? The 2N5952’s are hard to find and expensive if they do pop up. Hoping to find something comparable.

I used these from Aion:

I also used a multi-turn pot for setting the bias because a standard 3362P type doesn't have much wiggle room at all for being good vs. bad. This one provides a lot of adjustment window so you can tweak to preference much easier.

Thanks man, I appreciate it!

I should point out that my XC Phase build turned out pretty good, but there is some distortion in the block mode. I've read some other comments here that it is normal. Swapping out IC1 and IC3 for a TL022 did help a bit.

I was actually the one who posted to the group that using a TL022 in IC3 stopped the tick and distortion and I see now that Robert has updated his build documents to make that change (using a TL022 in IC3 rather than a TLO72). as of July 2023. But I wasn’t aware of any suggestion to use a TL022 in IC1. Sorry to hear that you are still having some distortion even after making both of those changes. Have you tried adjusting the trim pot further? It really is a very very tiny space in the trim pot throw where there is phasing without distortion.

I had the same issue and swapped out IC1 with a 22 and it also fixed the issue. I mentioned in that thread that I meant to do IC3, but did 1 without really thinking about it. It worked so I kept it .

Holy cow! Thank you dude! I’ve been looking for a multi-turn trimmer with an offset-wiper footprint for ages! I’ve always used 3296W series trimmers where I felt things would benefit from a multi-turn, but I’d have to bend the pins a bit to get them to fit a typical 3362P footprint. I’ve never seen the 3266W series before!
