What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

@!#?@! beautiful.
It looks brand new.

Thanks!

I paid a bit more for it than I wanted to, but it's really clean. I'll get to test it out tonight but it looks like someone kept in their closet for the last 30 years.

I want one! I used to have this or similar ne just like it and I miss it.

The price on these 424's has jumped quite a bit the last few years. I'd had my eye on them 5 or so years back and they're getting kind of crazy compared to what they were before. I wanted a mkiii originally, but the clean ones available were going for more than I wanted to spend and the mkii has the inputs on the top which is a big plus for my workspace. The footprint of the mkii is also a good bit smaller than the mkiii which is really nice, too.

Annoyingly radio number 4 seems to have gone missing in the delivery network. Fingers crossed they find it but I've got radio number 5 on the way.

I've picked up some mullards and nkts from the first three, this one has some Japanese 2sb175 and 2sb172 in it. Fingers crossed they test well

Well apparently radio number 4 has been located by the couriers and is now on its way. Doubtful it'll be here before Christmas, it apparently went to Wales for a nice little trip instead of Northern Ireland. Fingers crossed it turns up in one piece 🤞

This, a drum machine, and a Marshall head straight in (!) was my setup for a summer back in the 90s. So much fun. Wish I still had those tapes.

They've always been a bit "underground". They had a free version many moons ago (like 15-18 years ago). Which is why I started using it hahahah. But it looks like they've come a LONG way since then. Back then it wasn't much more than Audacity with a better UI.
Having said that I have way too much invested in my UAD/Luna ecosystem to change now.
If it ain't broke don't fix it or replace is my motto on the computer.
I still use a cream keyboard from my first computer from 1998- Diamond Touch Keyboards by Mitsubishi Australia!
Every month, I tip it upside down & tip the crumbs out & with a toothbrush & window cleaner, give it a Clean!

Any mis pelt words you see in my messages is from my one finger typing & average eyesight ha ha!

I also use my first computer keyboard. It's the only one I've ever owned- a 1985 IBM model M with hard click switches in every key
