No more 99 cent shipping from Tayda!?!

Really though, I wish DigiKey and mouser sold (and stocked!) pots for close to what Tayda does, then I’d basically get everything from them! Can’t beat the shipping cost and timeliness…not to mention no customs/tax/brokerage etc.

Almost every Tayda order I've ever made came drop shipped through Colorado. I'd see Louisville on the tracking and assume it was Kentucky then realize it was Colorado.

I haven't ordered in a while and I put in an order on Dec 27th. and chose the cheapest shipping option. It hasn't shown up yet.

Postal Service SF
Postal Service 30 days Slow !!! $3.99

I just tried a new order and I get that same option in the USA no matter what state or zip code I choose.
Got it today. Looks like it originates with UPS and is then handed off to USPS. Tracking shows it arrived in New Jersey and then went to NY. 20 days.

I’m gonna roll the dice and use FedEx for an order to Canada. I’m moving in a month-ish so I can’t really count on the regular post to arrive on time 😂

FedEx 2-4 day service is 13 dollars. Thailand Post is 34. Kind of a no brainer even with brokerage fees.

I made an order Sunday night and the shipping cost difference between UPS and DHL was almost nonexistent plus they had the same delivery speed. I went with DHL. It was packed and sent out within 24 hours, which is the fastest I've ever seen from Tayda. Supposed to be here by Monday, but it says it's already in Louisville, KY so I figure it'll be here sooner. I've never seen it go to Louisville, KY, just Louisville, CO.

I've only shipped Tayda via DHL and always been wowed by the speed of delivery and the level and accuracy of communication. DHL goes straight from Thailand to Boston MA, then trucked right up to my house in NH.

I guess I wasn't paying attention and selected Fedex on the last one.

In the last three days, my pedal bits have been in Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Alaska, Memphis, and NH!

Not really a problem, or a complaint against Fedex, just interesting. And I imagine Fedex was probably $1.00 cheaper or something which would be why I clicked it.

Some time ago I had a bad DHL experience (not with Tayda, I don't think) which made me swear them off. Think I forgot to not select them with one of my first orders from them after getting back into this arena a couple years ago, and was pleasantly surprised how painless it was.

Logistics is one of those crossovers of data analysis that fries my brain o_O I mean, I want more info than what USPS offers sometimes, but I think that's a bit overkill, what FedEx has in your example.

Likely a company need-to-know sort of deal, but it would be interesting to know just how much (and what of) product is drop-shipped from the States.

I wonder if we could collectively gather our recent orders' cost & weight numbers (just gross numbers, not itemized, and maybe anoymously for privacy reasons) along with what shipping options, and their costs, were available. Then either have someone on here who's good with stats, or throw it into an LLM see if there's some sort of corollary/point we could get a rough tier list for this kind of thing: see where the breakdown is, so it's not a great mystery we're constantly throwing spaghetti at. Not just a cost breakdown, but a point where we can see when a cheap option kicks in.

or maybe it's not worth the trouble :P

I would also love to know the parameters so I could game the system, but I think I can say pretty confidently that it's a dynamic system based on Tayda's day to day shipping costs. The available shippers and base-pricing for a couple items have changed pretty frequently over the last year.

What kills me is I never seem to find any less than 3 suppliers when I order. Always seems Tayda, Stompboxparts and Mouser all seem to get my orders as they all have something I need the others don’t. Parts don’t bother me, but when it’s a $30 shipping bill each time it gets annoying

My package took the same route through Anchorage and Memphis and then North again to Canada. Mine was picked up the same time on the 26th.

That's neat! I guess my Tayda box probably always starts it's journey alongside a bunch of similar boxes on their way to the rest of you nerds! Mine hit the porch shortly after I posted that this morning.

Okay i lagged on ordering, but I just placed an order and got an interesting shipping result when I clicked thru. This is to Canada.

I’m fully expecting to still get hit with DHL’s BS, but at least I’ll have recourse to perhaps recoup the cost from Tayda if that’s the way it’s been advertised to me. 🤔

Should find out in a week or so, it’s public holiday time over there so they warned me it could be 4-5 days to pack it up, no biggie.

Thailand post was 31 bucks, just to compare 😂
