The second batch of value packs. Oddly enough, I can't seem find any that contains the film caps (pale yellow) that I see dozens of on every pedal? Only rather expensive WIMA, but those seem overkill? Anyone knows where I can get those without having to deal with buying specific values?

Bonus: two mofeta kits can be seen. And the Low Tide boards, and a few things for noise boxes (contact mics) in the future, for when I get inspired to experiment with amplified metal-on-metal racket gadgets.

Where did you get the value packs? Nothing wrong with wima!

Almost all of these come from Conrad. I also got a few from every packs Banzai Music sells (common linear IC, tantalums, piezo thingies, etc). The metallics and ceramics came from a small budget electronics site here in the Netherlands. Just odd things to experiment with on breadboards...

Aren't WIMA, like, "too good" for effect pedals? 😅

52,- for 125 pieces, here https://www.tme.eu/nl/details/mks-kit/tht-foliecondensatoren/wima/ if people think this is reasonable, I'd buy a few boxes of these. Good to have a full range, instead off the odd values that came with the packs.

I’m pretty sure people use WIMA for diy builds. It’s really up to you.

Nah. Wima are fine. Look cooler on black PCBs too so, style points.
Though, ordering thembfrombtayda is pretty easy. Search "wima" and then just add qty to cart from the search page. Probably less coin for a couple minutes of work
Yeah, lots of voltage ratings that make no sense either. 25V is the only thing ever needed in this hobby, I suppose?

Generally good practice to double rate what the circuit is running at but no harm in rating larger as long as it's not too large a of footprint.
The smaller value caps hit a point where they don't get any lower in voltage because there's no benefit in making extra SKUs. They won't get markably smaller. So, if I can make a 100v rated cap that fits in the smallest footprint spec for that product line, I'm not going to make a 50v and a 25v too(random values chosen in this example).
It's way more important to note footprint size and lead spacing(and occasionally height) than max voltage(as almost all film caps are rated high enough for use).

Often, if there are two different voltage rated caps of the same capacitance from the same OEM, the difference is physical size.
