What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Got my very first blue box from JLCPCB today, a stack of Disappearing Acts. I don't need that many, but with the new user discount it was the same as getting just the minimum 5. I'll really have to get into learning Diptrace or something one day, I would like to try a variant of this (also as a bonus, you could have multiple spring reverb pedals and just use the same tank with all of them) or I also have some simple fuzz pedal modifications I might try. But it's still in the One Day ™️ phase of planning, maybe edging a little closer.

What’s a disappearing act?

USPS came through on a Sunday? with my friends from CCCP. When the zombie apocalypse comes some people might have more bullets, but I'll be flush with soviet surplus transistors, now I just need a solar/wind farm to keep the amps running. Mostly NPN, Si K315B, Ge MP38A, and GT404B, then smaller lots of GT320B, GT310B, and GT309V.

Well I picked this up at the freight terminal 3 miles from my house, saving $500 on home delivery with a lift gate. It was fast and painless, they dropped it into the bed of my truck with a forklift. I had to remove cover from the pallet, and carry in the attachments and bowl (about 20 pounds) then I could carry the 125 pound mixer in. Not bad for 68. I'm 5'6.5" it's almost as big as I am, lol.

This is the A200D which means it has an all aluminum frame. The A200 is all steel and weighs 204 lbs. Glad I got this one, plus it's way better looking than the steel one. Color me happy! Well, happy now. I have to pull $1000 out of the 401k because Citibank credit card, which closed on the 7th, decided to pull a payment made on the 9th into the previous period.

Kinda ticked about that. As a programmer that did a ton of jobs for the accounting department, this does NOT comply with GAAP, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles......

Oh man, that’s bad ass!!

I've been in need of a decent mic preamp for a while now, so I picked this ART PRO MPA II up from Reverb. I wanted two channels and you can't beat the price of these things for two mic pres. It being able to decode mid/side micing is pretty rad, too, considering I don't use a daw. People seem to really like them and I got this for a pretty good price.

Just a bit of rack rash but looks good otherwise, it wasn't abused. I should be able to test it out and put it in my rack permanently later this week. It's just stuck in there for now, I'm going to reorganize my rack on Wednesday after I get a chance to test it out.

Getting the back off the cab was rough!!! Theres some distortion coming through when played throjfb the cab, not present on a different gotta figure that out. I think it could just be a bad connection. Project for tomorrow. Other weird thing volume turned all the way down still has volume. Makes me wonder if someone put a resistor between leg 1 and ground of the volume pots. Its actually really nice gives you a nice low volume lol. Another thing to dig into tomorrow. PT dates 72. Not bad for 220$ 😝😝😝

52 year old caps, or have they been replaced? If not, u better see to that first!

Are those 2 x 15? Cast frame? They look like JBL

I bought a 76 Bassman Ten 4x10 for an equally low price just to restore it. It was stored in a beauty salon and reeked to high heaven of cheap perfume, beer and cigarettes. Had to strip the tolex and seal the wood with shellac to kill the stench....

I havent pulled the chassis yet, literally got it home at 815. So apparently those fender soeakers can be made by gauss or jbl. Innersound a shop here in pdx currently has serial # 0443 on ebay for 300
$ and says its a gauss. Im guessing these are as well as thrh are # 0429 and 0432. Ive got some diving into tomorrow. The distortion is coming from the second speaker only it seems. Hoping resoldering the connection and some
Deoxit works all that out, if not looks like it might be worth having it repaired.

Stiff necks suck and my workshop is still out of commission until I get the roof fixed. Finally just said screw it and plunked my money down

In other packages: I couldn't say "shut up and take my money" fast enough after I saw these at 'the orange box', real aluminum not plastic!

I have one of the Mojotone chassis stands and it’s nice, but does have a few limitations. A 100w plexi chassis BARELY fits even with the arms all the way out. Secondly, you need to clamp the chassis to the supports when tilting it up (and it’s a heavier chassis)- or you will end up with the chassis in your lap.
Other than that, it’s been honestly one of the best things I’ve purchased for building.

I think this is version 2, it's accepts up to 29 3/4", the 2203 chassis I bought is 26 3/4" long (including the ears).

I can bolt it to my 18" x 12" solder-fume-extractor stand, for the 2203. Thanks for the heads up! It should be here Friday. I did just a few solders on the tube sockets for the 5F6-A I'm working on now and got a stiff neck after just 10 minutes.

Getting old sucks. And then you die, lmao....
