and you can make soap or explosives with the leftoversCan you get crystal lye where you are? If it can be chemically cleared, this will do it.

I've never seen this in Quebec. I fear it's a "greaseberg" that's clogging the drain, since the kitchen sink also drains in that main pipe, and we're not as careful as we should be when it comes to draining gray stuff. Can you get crystal lye where you are? Well, as a last resort, I'll try the strongest sodium hydroxide-based goop I can find locally. You know, the mob-grade, body dissolving stuff. If that don't work, I'll have to put up with a local plumber's crack, I guess.Lye will sizzle and smoke as it's dissolving the gunk.
I believe Drano Crystals are basically the same thing.

Neither have I. At home, it's always the long hair that cause the clogs. I have to fish gross stuff every now and then.I've never seen this in Quebec. I tried a metal snake. Put like 20 feet of it down the drain, until it won't go anymore. Twisted the crap out of it. Nothing. Came out clean. I think it needs a stick of dynamite at this point. You could try a plastic snake. It cleared a chunk of my wife's nasty hair after Draino did squat.

Depending on the age/type of construction, you may have a clean out point in the basement/crawlspace near where the plumbing exits or external to the building. Being in Canada, I would suspect it's internal.I tried a metal snake. Put like 20 feet of it down the drain, until it won't go anymore. Twisted the crap out of it. Nothing. Came out clean. Is it the Rhoads or the YJM?I have a new pedal I ordered and am super excited to try it out but UPS decided that I should wait another day and delayed the delivery until tomorrow![]()

What kind of shoes were they?Of course with the cycling discussion happening in the workbench thread, it was a perfect time for the sole on one of the pair of cycling shoes I've been using for the last god knows how many years (10? 12?) to rip clean off the shoe. I'm one of these people that does obsessive market research before buying anything of any value so I spent the weekend looking into replacements, only to find that no bike shops local to me have anything that I would be interested in in stock, and if they do, not in my Sasquatch size.
Some old-school Exustar cross-country mountain shoes, with a ratchet buckle and nylon sole; not the nicest or fanciest but I'm pretty sure they were the cheapest ones you could get at the time and I definitely got my money's worth out of them, so I suppose I'm not too mad. I still have the old hardtail but I'm riding a lot more endurance-all-road and gravel-esque stuff these days, so I'm looking to tailor my kit accordingly. What kind of shoes were they?
I was about to suggest trying your luck to find new old stock Exustars or used in your size. The best bet would be to buy the same brand in your size though. Some old-school Exustar cross-country mountain shoes, with a ratchet buckle and nylon sole; not the nicest or fanciest but I'm pretty sure they were the cheapest ones you could get at the time and I definitely got my money's worth out of them, so I suppose I'm not too mad. EDIT actually I still have the box they came in... they were the E-SM321:
