What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

My new roommate is one Mr. Crucianelli, a short (scale) Italian dude born in 1968.
Great condition but it needs some minor TLC (foam to keep the pickups from rattling, tightening up the jack, a shim cause the action is a whopping 9/64") and some surgery (new frets, the bridge needs to be repositioned cause the intonation is too sharp. Does that mean it'll go from 30" to 30.5"? Or I could just play sharp with flat frets all the time! :)

CB mystery box arrived, nothing extra, just a Clean, but it's probably one of the more useful ones (for me personally). Will take time to learn how exactly it works, though, lots of controls and options.

That "Clean" looks like an interesting pedal and premise. I use quite a few pedals to sculpt my clean tones. Probably more obsessively than my dirt tones.

In the mail now: 5 10 pin relays. Evidently I'm a dingus and ordered the wrong 5V non-latching relays from Tayda.
In my mailbox - an old 3 channel switcher to use for my DIY Marshall preamp. YAY!

The issue now is that apparently it has some pretty cool stereo features (where the signal moves slightly in the stereo image through various options in the pedal, just adding some nice movement), but my pedal board is currently set up for mono since I also have a mic plugged in. If I move the mic somewhere else, I could do both a mono FX loop (for before the amp) and a mono-to-stereo (for post amp) like I used to

Mouser order with parts for two builds and some extras. No pics because it's just a bunch of plastic bags.
Anyway, wanted to post because I'm still amazed at the Mouser delivery times. Order placed two days ago, shipped later that same day from the US to Germany, this morning I got the package in my hands. Duty paid, free shipping, backordered items will be delivered free of charge when they're in stock. That'll never not be amazing to me.

Free shipping from Mouser..? And to Germany, no less?

Mouser, I luv ya, bro, but you need to chill on the packaging.

(very, very poorly drilled 1590BB for scale)

And...

...that's all, folks.

Also, those loose MLCCs measure ~22μF, even though I didn't order them? nothing missing from the order, so that's good.

Another pound of random transistors I'm sorting through.
All the Si is JAN. A lot of 2219As, some 2905 and 3019, and some 8 leggers that I haven't looked up yet but there's a bunch of AD517s which looks functional...
Was getting a little bummed until I started puking a bunch of 1308s and GE123s out. Only counting the 1308s and only being maybe a quarter of a way through, I'm at ~$4/2n1308

There's also a handful of baby blue 2N383s. @Harry Klippton , have any more baby blue fuzzes in the works?

Also added another vintage wooshbox

Needs the jacks replaced and the batteries(18v) wiring re-repaired but it still has the battery door! Made in SLC DOD.

The service is definitely good, but the prices do also reflect it in my experience. Plus the site is clearly meant for professionals, as in you have to be a professional to know how to navigate the thing with ease.

Interesting- I was charged $8 shipping by mouser for 2mlcc my order was short last month.

Work has been killing me lately so really I only have time to think about and buy more stuff for my up coming Matamp GT120 build rather than actually work on stuff.

I picked up a variac from Amazon. From the reviews I knew it was likely it would come with major issues but I like the look and the internals are pretty good - especially when you fix it :)

IMG_6369.jpeg IMG_6368.jpeg

I decided I needed Tocos 24rv pots (rather than the perfectly good Alphas I already have):

IMG_6497.jpeg

I picked up a ton of fuses, but those are boring to look at. Relatedly though, as part of the RG Keen style immortalization I bought some varistors for spikes coming from mains and for protecting the OT from spikes. The best components look like candy:

I found this green NOS mil spec lamp lens. This is my favorite so far. I’ll likely put the green in the GT120 and the red in next amp (dumble bluesmaster). Does anyone know where I can get a blue lens like these? Or even clear?

IMG_6504.jpeg

I bought milspec/aerospace Tefzel wire in Roland 808 colors (not because the amp has anything to do with a 808, its just a color set of colors imo):

IMG_6486.jpeg

I made my first order from Apex Jr, what a class act. I bought 4 100ft rolls of 18 gauge milspec teflon tubing to use on bus wire and component leads. 400ft of 18 gauge bus wire to go with the tubing. Also 100ft of 22 gauge shielded teflon wire.

IMG_6487.jpeg

The teflon tubing is awesome!

IMG_6496.jpeg

The shielded teflon wire had me worried at first strip attempt. But splitting it length wise with a ceramic utility blade seems to work well and then my standard Engineer brand strippers handled the inner insulator just fine.

Last but not least, I bought and cut the G10 FR4 for the turret boards. My crazy individual tube bias board, and the main board:

I’m getting close. I am almost done with the main board layout. I’m going to print the board layouts on full page label sheets and stick them to the boards for the final mock and drilling. I have to finish the front panel art too… but I am excited to start soldering again! (And post in the workbench thread).
