Font talk

I am thinking about a good name for the Cast Iron but on a lasered plastic faceplate.
Could go for the Lollar font (I think it is ICT clearface)
Lallor. Lower.

Or something like cementite. And then the Lollar font is less important.

I think people refer to this as acrylic sheets in the US? That’s what I use for cutting faceplates.

OK didnt realize that. How about LEGO? Isnt that considered being plastic building bricks then in the US?

Yup!

I’ve come to the conclusion that if you want something to REALLY “ape” the real thing, you better be ready to do tons of manual digital typesetting.
Bummer. Yeah, I had seen the posts in here about Carnival of Treason, but I couldn't find it available to purchase on its own (outside of an expensive multi-font suite). Found that its a digitization of an old type called Bailey Shaded, but the only other digitizations I found of [the non-shaded version of the Bailey font] are:
  • Buckhorn (defunct)
  • Circustime (no info anwhere, may not have ever been available for download/commercially)
  • Big Top (defunct from the original font foundry- found it on DaFont, but it seems to be DOA. gonna see if I can figure out how to get it working)
Edit: got Big Top working, albeit it with a few technical anomalies. Definitely has some differences, but it seems to be the closest free option so far. Definitely will be easier to just add the shadow effect to this font than to adapt a less-similar one that already has it.

Bingo! Always forget about that one, but looking back now, I have that font and have used it a lot in the past 😅
Revisited this tonight to do some research. Seems that in this instance, EH actually used ITC Serif Gothic with very little modification at all (only thing I notice is the deletion of the serifs on the interior of the crossbars of the two f’s in fuzz, allowing for it to appear as one single crossbar)… it’s just that they made heavy use of the alternate glyphs, which sadly have not been included in any digitizations. Been trying to track down a relatively high-res scan of the original phototype in the std bold weight, but all I’ve found are the std black, and this std light weight.

This is all I’ve found. Might be able to get away with tracing the alt glyphs from here and combining it with the existing digital character set.
