it triggered meltdowns
We are going through something similar at the moment Minecraft is an obsession that seems to bring as much frustration as it does joy… the epic highs are always followed by the impending doom of a thermonuclear meltdown when the game goes sideways. It’s been great for her fine motor development, reading comprehension, critical thinking, and even functional communication but the cost is starting to out weigh the benefits rapidly.. if it doesn’t change soon in the closet it goes and we are going to to Minecraft rehab.🤣

I put myself on the wait list, expected to buy a KoT and keep it for life, it was my "white whale" overdrive....And then my name came up and I bought it and it arrived and it was....fine? It's a good pedal. Maybe I bought into the hype and the waitlist and mystique too much. I expected to be really wowed by it and it was just another solid overdrive.

So much like...every other piece of gear I've ever sold in my life...I looked at the used rates and priced accordingly. Some dude bought it for nearly $900 in the middle of COVID. I don't feel bad about that lol

I think that's kind of different too than just getting on the wait list with the specific intention of immediately flipping for max profit but idk I guess I'm biased lol

That's been my experience and I've heard that a lot from people that roll through pedals like we do. King of Tone is not a bad sounding pedal, but if you're expecting a "the heavens opened and my tone caused ladies to faint and men to tremble" pedal, this isn't it.

The one I had looked like a bad diy build. Messy soldering, covered in flux, bent pots, poorly applied stamp graphics. Also it's disheartening to know that the original magic diodes that are talked about so much on his crappy looking myspace page haven't been used in years and the high gain mod is simply a resistor that costs like 30 dollars. Snake oil. Even if i didn't feel it was mediocre sounding I think there are way better made and sounding pedals out there for less.

God, I can't stand the brothers AM. The two biggest hype names come together for the ultimate circle jerk. And everyone just follows along because they'd rather be spoonfed brand names than use their own ears. Idgaf if it has midi or whatever, I'm tryna play AC/DC.

I do sort of agree, it's definitely not for me. But then, you're not really hating on the pedal itself, you're hating on the image. And sure, the image is important to a lot of people (which I also sort of despise), but the pedal itself is at least an improvement over the KoT. If the sales speech is "It's a KoT with a boost, MIDI control and some extra features" and your answer is "Well I don't use MIDI so it's dumb", you're just being very self-centered.

Chase Bliss is hating on the people who buy their pedals by convincing them to buy a $400 clone with features most people are never going to use. My quip at the end is a reference to that.

The pedal doesn't exist in a vacuum and you can't analyze it as such. It's always going to have the hype attached to it. There are too many other KoT style pedals - the only reason most people buy this one is the hype.

Please, if you're going to discuss feelings, try to do so without personal insults.
