The 2 boards won't seat properly with the current electrolytics caps, the pin headers are spec'd for under 8mm height. I goofed by not double checking the size of my current electrolytic caps.

Just finished soldering this up, I need to to source some different electrolytic caps since these are a couple mil too tall, I will drill the enclosure when I get the new caps.
FWIW, to keep e-cap profiles low, I often use SMD e-caps where I can. I find that on most builds I can use 10µF ( and higher) SMD caps.
(The e-cap in the upper right is a 33µF, which I didn't have in SMD. But it's still low enough for this build.)
I have been working with film free decals and 2k clear coat and In have only completed a few pedals in the past weeks. The preparation of multiple cases is because each can of SprayMax 2k is 30+ dollars with a shelf life of 1-2 days. I wanted to use up as much of the two cans I because of that. This stuff is a two part hard automotive clear coat which is impervious to most chemicals.
Not all of these are film free; the singled out individually pictured builds I think were mostly normal waterslide. The Analogman gold case is one with the film free and clear coat. The prepared cases on the table are about half film free.
The film free is excellent and the two part clear makes this much more professional IMO. I usually drill all the holes first and then do film free - I followed some ideas from tutorials found in this forum and then I employed my kinetic-trial-and-error -learning style - I know others may do it other ways and YMMY.
Parts started trickling in, voltage regulator and transformers arrived today for the DEFX String Ringer daughterboard, vactrols and BBD related stuff from CabinTech as well.
Pedal building can be a meditative thing whilst convalescing. The Pretty Tears build has come along nicely and had to alter the artwork after doing a test graphics fit on the drilled enclosure. Had to move the jack labels to the sides. Full build report by the end of the week I imagine.
after seeing the schematic(s) in chuck bones’ thread and hearing something about this EHX Germanium OD circuit supposedly starting out as a test bed for germanium PNPs - i was curious to check it out:
picked an MP20 out of a bag marked 58-60hfe.
pretty quick and small circuit, but i’ll admit the PNP stuff kinda bends my brain a bit
haven’t tried any other types just yet but i probably should..
tbh im not really into the shitty broken misbiased sounds you get from playing with the ‘bias’ or ‘volts’ controls so here i had them maxed out for ‘best’ sound, as well as the gain:
I recently was "given" the sister cab to this one by a friend I have a long history of speaker component swapping with:
Eventually I'll do the same crossover mods I implemented in the first one, and I thought I's try bypassing the horn completely to see how the OEM Fishman 8" driver works for electric guitar. It would be nice if my new 100 watt tube bass amp could work for me for that occasionally, although it was really not designed with overdrive in mind at all. The driver in the first one is a pretty unexciting looking Eminence:
The new one that my friend bought a while after I got mine has somewhat different cosmetics, which make it look more weatherproofed but even more generic. Still a nondescript $50 thing though. Didn't take long at all to pop on the new small hole grill and direct wire the Speakon jacks to the woofer, patch my Crystal Lettuce pedal in front of the amp, and throw down some bad hair metal riffs. The disconnect between the looks of the rig and the surprisingly rude and quite loud result is great. I'm moving an anticipated possible 112 build way down the queue now, and thinking more about stereo applications for two 8 + horn cabs. Good times!
In the bigger picture, the amp turns out to be fantastic for guitar with a drive pedal in front of it. That's a great excuse to build some more PPCB boards up, for sure.
