Pedal recommendations Voice Changer for Costume purposes

Hi y'all!

For a robotic costume purposes I was looking for some neat recommendations on PedalPCB Products or any other solutions (maybe RP2040 based projects).
I was already seeking through Ali and Amazon for voice effect devices but they all sound terrible. I stumbled across the HT8950 circuit from Velleman which kinda is what I'm looking for but the Kit itself sounds terrible as well. I don't know if its due to its schematic and parts or the mounted Microphone

Here is a sound example based also on the HT8950

My needs:
- Pitch down
- metallic voice (really fast delay or chorus effect)
- needs to be as small as possible to fit within a helmet or at least pocket size (like a pedal PCB 10x10cm)
- ability to use a simple lavalier microphone
- Amplifier I will probably use a JBL GO 4 via Audio Jack

I was looking into the Roboto, Pitch Witch or Leprechaun built Kits from PedalPCB but I can't imagine how they could sound with a voice as input.

Maybe someone can help me out with some concrete Built instructions, kits or any voice sound examples of the pedals mentioned above. I don't have a lot of time for R&D myself

Wouldn’t fit in a helmet, but it’s quasi pocket sized. Also more expensive than anything you were talking about, but it’s battery powered and seems like it would do a nice deep robot voice.

I've seen this device too. I had the Roland VT3 some years ago- great device- soundwise the right fit but It's simply way too big and functional wise offers too much.

The form factor plays the most important role- that's why bare PCBs are the only way

The bassist in my band works in the sim room at a university hospital. So sometimes they need to be the voice of a certain gender. They are either using a Pitch Fork or a Mooer Pitch Box.

I doubt either of these are what you are looking for... maybe the Roboto, but probably not, it's going to sound like the Velleman HT8950 project.

If it must be DIY I would lean towards an FV-1 PCB with a custom algorithm. You could get the variable pitch shift and delay/chorus/static flange simultaneously without any issue. Possibly even add a second pitch voice (4th or 5th up).

I haven't gotten any of the Vocoders (V4) yet, as they are sold out. However, I do have a V3 version from 2 years ago that I never built myself.

If I was trying to do something like what I think you’re describing, I’d probably just get a Bluetooth mic and mini speaker, and have my iPhone in my pocket running AUM with whatever FX chain got me the sound I wanted.

So basically I want this to be as small as possible form factor with just the effects I will need to safe any space. With costumes its always about making things as tiny as possible. For example I was using RP2040s for LED control since they're so powerful and tiny.

I was thinking about buying some cheap effects from a musicstore and chain them together but I like assembling something and being able to fit it into a small housing but I rather have some self assembly PCB that somewhere puts out understandle words through some speaker.

The FV-1 PCB sounds really cool. Are there finished working programs ready for the effects I will need? Just asking because i‘m not too hot about writing any code myself

Especially Triangle wave vocoder sound really cool. They problem is the sound gets really quickly hard to understand when you lower the pitch and put that out through some speaker in a noisy convention.

Thats why robot voice defines for me as a strong feedback chorus which creates the metallic effect + lower pitch.

Sadly they sound awful. I found some youtuber called Creative Stuff that tests out all of these Chinese Changers and their Robot voices are all close to not understandable since the pitch is way to low. Especially with a limited amount of speakers like a small JBL Go it and the noisy environment of a Convention- its close to useless

Only have the EHX voive box now for formant-y gimmickry. But it's equally oversized.

These ones are great! Boss was bought by Roland and they made their shot on the VT3 which was more digital but also a really great sounding Transformer. For my case just way too big
