PPCB Wiki

@Robert have you considered migrating build docs to the wiki? A lot of the information in them is repeated (mostly the wiring diagram and drill template) so it could be all in a central place. That would mean each board would need a page with the BOM, schematic and PCB picture with refdes/values.

If you need help with the content I would love to contribute to the community! I’m no stranger to this kind of stuff, I have contributed to Wikipedia, stack overflow and internal work wikis.

Edit: also the wiki would be easier to search by component so if somebody found some weird transistors and wanted to build a pedal they can quickly search the wiki for the part number.

Yes, this is something I've considered doing for a while. It would solve a lot of the problems with updates, revisions, partial docs, etc...

The issue I had (admittedly I didn't spend a lot of time on it) was with getting consistent page formatting between browsers when printing or exporting a page as PDF.
Oh that’ll be really challenging to solve I bet, although I’m not an expert on this. Do you think most people would want to be able to make a pdf and print the docs?

Do you think most people would want to be able to make a pdf and print the docs?

Quite a few folks don't have computers at their workbench (or a workbench at all) so I think the ability to print is important.

I played around with one of the PDF export plugins a while back. Since it depended on the browser to render the page the output was dependent on the browser/screen size.

At the time I was attempting to somewhat imitate the existing Publisher-style layouts, it could be that adopting the "wiki" style would cooperate more.

One thing that Aion FX does (that I think is wise) is having a measurement scale on the drill template page, to help the user verify that they printed it at the correct size (i.e., scale factor). You could add a note for the user to verify the scale (by checking it with a ruler) BEFORE drilling.

If you have a cm/in ruler, check it out. On the Theseus, the inch scale is perfect, but the cm one is not right...
