I jumped on this (hype?) train, only after finding out that @cwsquared would offer these PCBs with all the smd chips pre-installed (hUUUge thanks again)!
It still was an intimidating project for me, I left it in a drawer for a while before taking a deep breath and starting on populating the thing.
I went slowly but still managed to destroy a pad when desoldering a cap that was in the wrong place. A jumper would fix that.
I made a drill template by hand, based on measurements of the PCB itself. But oh boy, there are sooooo many holes and I drill by hand, so it took me another deep breath before drilling those. Luckily, I wasn't too far off, giving the pots an extra millimeter wiggle room also helped.
It was a bit of a surprise to find out that it actually works as intended. I tested it according to this walkthrough of the man himself.
As a bassist and a guy who likes little (drone) synths and noise boxes, I can see some use beyond beeing a fancy paperweight.
While testing with bass, it was cool to mix 3 fuzzes into one, for example. I think it will probably end up on my drone, ambient & noise ironing board setup.
The routing possibilites are still boggling my mind a bit, but it will be fun to explore it more.
Graphics = Relativity by M.C. Escher. The color coding should help my brain getting along.
