thanks guys. i think that i'm going to leave it as is since it does already sound great with a bass (very little low end loss if any).

about 1/2 of the 1,000 pedals that i have i built, and the others are the factory originals.. yes, that's the first thing that did, changing the A500K drive pot to a A1M, but, surprisingly it didn't change it much.

i have about 1000 pedals at the moment and made my own Bass Klon years ago. IMO, the lightspeed is a great low gainer for bass.

i'm using it with a bass, but no soundclip yet.

i know it's not a high gain drive but i expected to get a bit more than the very mild gain that it has at maximum drive.

I built the Mach 1 and it does sound very nice and transparent but IMO, it doesn't have anywhere near as much OD/Distortion with the gain cranked as the online demos show. Does anyone have ideas as to why?

i add a two way clipping switch by adding two 1N4148's and a .1uf cap to the third gain stage (C4/R13) to mine so i could get more fuzz out of it, and it's sounds great both ways/

i just completed the Nein Fuzz but it doesn't sound at all like my original Fairfield 900. It does kind of work but there's not much fuzz coming out of it. I used J201's (pcb type) and measured all 20 of the ones that I have in stock on my Peak DCA75 to match them to the specs as close as...

my build has plenty of output and sounds nice. IMO, it would be nice to have less distortion with the Dirt control at minimum though.

i did find two more brand new J202's from Mouser and installed them in the sockets. the pedal sounds pretty good but IMO could be improved.

what mods did you do?

just for experimentation, while waiting for the new J202's, i socketed the Jfets and installed J201's in their place, and it sounds exactly the same. Has anyone else built this circuit and is happy with the result? I certainly am not.

i bought the non smd versions. i'm out of them right now but just ordered some more of them.

yes, they're definitely J202's from Mouser. VCC is 9.29V.

they're definitely J202'S (from Mouser). I'm using a onespot power supply.
