Get anything cool from McMaster Lately?

I could definitely pick up hardware and throw it in, but unfortunately hot dogs (especially Chicago style) don't travel well.

Get anything cool from McMaster Lately?

I have a list of oddball hardware parts I need to take to McMaster, but their Chicago location is only 25 minutes from my work so I can pick up in person.

    C2C Build Document Mistakes Repository

I'll start with the couple that had been brought up before and taken care of this morning: Tungsten Preamp - pot values and links were wrong; inadvertently copied over from Nobelium (fixed) Tungsten Preamp - missing IC socket for NE555 (fixed) Bathtub Reverb - missing 22k resistor (fixed)...

    C2C Build Document Mistakes Repository

It's not a secret that I make mistakes, but I do my best to take care of them. To that point I've started going through and scrubbing the BOMs for the C2C projects and generally tidying up my build docs. But because this is just me checking my own work, I can still miss things. I would love to...

    Zendrive solderable breadboard

I'll agree this is going to be difficult for us to help you debug, but if there's going to be any chance of it we'll need to see whatever layout you were following, be it one you found online or one you drew yourself, and we'll also need to see the solder side of the board. All that said...

    Zendrive solderable breadboard

A picture is worth a thousand words, especially when debugging. Could also be helpful if you have a picture of the layout you used in your build.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

Glad to hear you're enjoying it, it's a good preamp. If you're talking about a full amp build of the B15, the only one I'm aware of is Ceriatone Aunt Peg (not affiliated).

Tungsten Preamp - another weird D.I. thing

The BOM was created by me and it had mistakes in it. I will openly admit and apologize for this. I am not afraid to admit that documentation is my least favorite part of these projects, so I often try to speed things up by copy-pasting previous build documents as a starting point/template. In...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

You can definitely save yourself a few bucks if you don't want to put in the DI, it's still a good preamp without it. Musikding got the last of my faceplates on their last restock order, I expect to have more by the end of next week.

    non-C0G/NP0 MLCC caps

There's a lot of subtlety in MLCC dielectric types, and the best answer is going to be "it depends". What the code is telling you is essentially the stability of the capacitor across a temperature range. One of the main pitfalls of MLCC are their tendency to have "capacitance drift" or...

    What's on the workbench?

Any time you say something is "supposed to" do something, I have to disagree, because the answer is always "it depends", and frankly if a designer tells me how something is "supposed to" be used then I will purposefully try to use it another way. Overdrives are allowed to have FMV tonestacks...

Tungsten Preamp - another weird D.I. thing

I'm not really sure what you want me to do in this situation. I supply PCBs to Musikding, that is it. He is responsible for everything else provided in the kit. You purchased the kit from Musikding. I could reach out to Klaus on your behalf, or I would be happy to help you source the correct...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I would recommend log. Trimpots are linear, but if there had been a log trimpot I would have recommended that instead.

Anyone use these jacks from ali express

There is also a mono version of the same jack, that's what I use. Still has 3-pins, so it gives you a switched connection for the tip.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I would say it's fairly normal, high frequencies are where you're going to hear the noise with the volume up and turning up the treble boost the high frequencies. Build looks great, glad you're enjoying it!

Scientific measurements of clipping diode differences

Ah I read that bit but for some reason my brain didn't register it, I guess maybe because "five dollar" was written out. Or because I'm running on 3 hours of sleep. Either way, I retract my complaint. Carry on.
