SOLVED First vero build - circuit works but output is barely audible.

Something is loose. Also where is the resistor going to the positive on the LED? On the PCB board?

    Diode identification

Oh, I should mention for anyone out there with an early 2000s phase 90. The evh and standard block logo boards are the same. If you look inside it has the script logo button up near the pot. Just remove the dot of glue on top. Cost saver at the time I guess.

Thanks! I'll swap it with my 1n4148. Not sure it's critical, but if it failed once every 20 years...

    Diode identification

You can tell it burned out. Weird, I played a show with it last week. T77?

    Diode identification

Yeah it's right after the power jack. I couldn't seen a number on the next diode, but it's fine. Not shorting out.

    Diode identification

Yeah, it just say 744 on the side. Took it out. The 1n 5932 works for now, but it's rated at 9.5?volts I believe. Chance of blowing again? Never had one just randomly go out. It's an over 20 year old pedal.

    Diode identification

My old phase 90 is shorting out, and I can clearly see a diode sparking. It's this one labeled 744. Is that a 1n744? Can't find a reliable schematic. I have a 1n 5239b A 1n4002 and 1n4148 as well. If it's just the power protection, does it need certain specs?

    RAT 2

I think my 80s rat had messages on the PCB board. Doubt they kept that tradition alive.

what action height should i have with DGDGAD tuning on an electric guitar ?

Check the truss rod relief first after the trem bridge is at the right tension (flat). Then check saddle heights. Otherwise you're chasing your tail.

SOLVED First vero build - circuit works but output is barely audible.

You can poke around the signal path with a point to a small amp. (Audio probe). That way you'll know where the issue is in the chain. Or you can use the multimeter's continuity beepers and go through each connection. It's less time than hastily building another.

Varitone switch on a Squier Jaguar

On whatever side has the henrys your looking for. One side the cap input and the other side to ground. Some people use a 1 meg resistor from input lug to cap to stop popping.

Varitone switch on a Squier Jaguar

Just make sure you get a frequency spec within guitar range or a full audio range transformer and probably not a power step up or down tranny. BB King's signature Lucille had no f holes, so it didn't have feedback problems, but it's resonate. Great guitars. The other "Kings" in blues liked...

Varitone switch on a Squier Jaguar

Looked at my notes, maybe you could compare the other schematics and calculate something 10.29 Henry transformer Position 2= .0033uF 3 = .0047uF They sound great like bb king 4 ( bass notched) = .1 uF These sound like bad transistor radios 5= .22 uF 6= .47uf ( didn't use this one mine, just...

Varitone switch on a Squier Jaguar

I went down this rabbit hole last year. I don't think I found a formula, nor could I find a transformer to supposed Gibson henrys specs. (It's debatable the online schematics are totally correct). I ended up using a easily obtainable transformer and ballparking the cap values while testing...

The foot switch is mounted, so you'll have to unscrew that. Not sure if there is a pot mounted too.

That looks pretty damn close to what I sketched out. I might ask the guy to get a guy shot of the original. It's more out of curiosity and the lack of info online with this one. Thanks for the info everyone!
