    Pedals for Banjo

This is the correct tool to be used whenever anyone uses a phaser with a banjo (with apologies to Pete Wernick, but WTF dude?).

    💖 Stay Alive ✨ Top Five of '25 💖

Five that landed on my pedalboard: Aion Quartz comp Aion Skywave drive (need to make another - gave to kiddo) PPCB Fuzz Foundry (this rips for the “new” band) PPCB D3lay PPCB Moonshot trem The objective this year was to replace my commercial pedals with home built. I just have the Julia to...

“How did they make that sound” thread

Sounds like a detuned guitar (at least on the low string(s)) with a generous reverb and a good amp. I would guess the flat wound sound is from low string tension. See Joey Landreth for similar examples.

    Rick Beato interviews David Gilmour

David Gilmour has been tiring to watch since about 1970. How’s that for out of context? And “yes” to more on JHS.

Anyone Compared the OTC-201 to the Diamond Comp?

Good call. They are both pretty transparent. I’d say Quartz by a small margin to my ears.

Anyone Compared the OTC-201 to the Diamond Comp?

I’ve built both of the Aion versions. They would both work for your purposes and that is how I run them. I have one on each of my two pedalboards and set them so they *just* start to smoooth out arpeggios. I also set them to generate a very slight signal boost. I generally believe two things...

What are the pedals every guitarist must have?

Tuner, OD. If the amp does not have tremolo and reverb, add a tremolo and delay. Done. Of course, my board has more and I’m constantly switching ODs…but, not necessary, just for fun.

    Chop shop quick question

Are you saying I have to get a third version having built the first two? Also good grief. (Turns out I don’t use the treble cut switch…otoh, I now have one on the big board and one on the small…)

    Best Opto-coupler for Dyana-Ross compressor?

I've used it to write stuff. And, when I say "write stuff," I mean it kick starts the process, but I have to ruthlessly edit to get something I like plus I wind up rewriting much of it anyway. It's like it poops out a bunch of clay in a shape that may or may not resemble the final object and I...

    Soldering question

A buddy who makes pedals commercially made it very clear to me that solder on both sides is a requirement. That said, I'm pretty inconsistent, but do not have very many issues with failures, noise, intermittent connections etc...knock wood. I'd love to learn some tricks to becoming more...

Aion Termina (Timmy) to Jan Ray?

Well, a year later, I've finished the pedal. It's quite good, but not amazingly good. I don't have a Timmy, so I don't know how it compares. I think it's going to be a keeper, but not first string. I did get the TSV808 PCB, so will compare it to that once done. Funny, I did an opamp comparison...

Unison Double / Pythagoras Tayda Drill

This is the one I’m using for a D3lay which almost done. Of course I forgot the switch hole when I sent to Tayda . As usual check the hole dimensions for actual component size. https://drill.taydakits.com/box-designs/new?public_key=VDNnaExpS3dFWkUzV09QRjFJN2xRUT09Cg==

125B PedalPCB Cleaver V2 Tayda Drill Template

I made this drill template for the Cleaver V2 boost. Caveats: - UNVERIFIED - I used the worst tools (paper, ruler, two scale factors to calculate) - I have been known to make careless errors - my dimensions for LED and power jack holes may not match yours It would be super cool if someone...

    Tube dampener rings

I think I had these (or functionally equivalent) on an early HW Vox with the EF86 channel as did a local buddy. But, I can’t recall if they worked or not. I’m in the “cheap experiment” camp.

“How did they make that sound” thread

Gatton was an unbelievable player, but had the brightest tone live that I’ve ever heard. The Barden bridge pickup didn’t help. Amazing what he could pull out of a simple setup.
