just thought i'd share a few builds i've done semi-recently...
so there’s the TS808HW…. but what about an ‘OD808HW’?
‘handwired’, of course must be better
but really, i just think tagboard builds are cool, so here’s what i came up with…
(schematic)
layout:
build:
enormous oversized caps were hilarious and dumb to squeeze in the 1590BB2, it sounds exactly the same as a veroboard version i did previously, but made for a satisfying build. this is now my main overdrive.
i’d love to do it again if i could find some smaller tagboards..
OD808 - QUAD OPAMP VERSION (TL074)
another question that absolutely nobody was asking...
but then i pondered, what if the OD808 was based on a quad opamp instead of x2 dual opamps?…..
layout:
build:
there was no reason to do this. of course it sounds the same as a normal dual opamp version.
but i had fun attempting to draft a layout that could squeeze into an altoids tin, and it even worked first go. can’t believe i didn’t make any errors.
there’s something satisfying about having a single opamp in a build like this (was initially inspired by an OD-1 build)
WAY HUGE SWOLLEN PICKLE MKII
i hadn’t built a fuzz yet and this one looked really nifty, so i found this layout:
build:
im not that familiar with fuzz circuits, but holy crap I never expected a fuzz pedal to add so much bottom end, it's like a bass button / doom-boom button (especially when stacked with an overdrive, as i noticed knocked loose does with some of their riffs).
no fancy parts here either, just x4 2N3904 transistors, and it doesnt matter if they match, sounds great either way.
cool pedal
here’s a lil demo of the OD808HW stacking with the swollen pickle:
