6 Band EQ Settings Explained

Im sure this is basic understanding of an EQ pedal so bear with my noob questions. I'm building the 6 band EQ potentiometer version. But I guess this is a question for any 6 band EQ.

How are the frequencies adjusted when turning the pot? Is the center of the pot 0 and left of that minus a certain amount and to right, plus? Or is all the way to left 0 and goes up from there? And is it turning up or down dB?

Also, if 0 is in the center would it be best to use center detent pots?

In the case of the 6-band EQ, yes. Noon is neutral, CCW cuts, CW boosts.

Center detent would be ideal if you can find them in the correct value.

Unless you don't like centre-detent...





(I don't. I prefer to centre the pots myself.)

Center frequencies are fixed in this one, it's not parametric - so pots boost or cut around the specified frequencies
