Adventures in sourcing – sexy washers

Especially with your etched, “post industrial” style I think that looks perfect! I was just on McMaster yesterday, looking to see what better washers I could use for mini toggles, but 1/4 inch washers don’t have as many possibilities. I may go with the dress nuts people use, but was hoping for a more svelte flat washer.

Thanks. I totally agree the are "on-brand"

I need to find a US source for these. It took 2 weeks from China to get these.

well everyone knows those are Belleville Serrated Spring Lock Washers for Socket Head Screws....

or, uuuuuuhhhh huh huh huh...... something....... Looks like a flange nut without the nut.

everyone but me apparently...

Have you ever tried an illuminated bicolor 3PDT ? Most certainly the quintessential washer, the ultimate level. Like a beacon in the darkness compared to average washers, even those at 3.50$ a piece.

The most misguided musician, surrounded by the angriest mob, in the darkest cave, can easily manage to switch his stompbox on and off thanks to these clever little devices. And much faster than the unfortunate one, who still struggle with old 3PDT and old school status led.

I'm actually going in the opposite direction. full on retro.

Thinking of having a kerosene tank, a cotton wick and a flint lighter. Step on the switch and an actual flame lights up to show that your pedal is engaged.

This kind of vintage washer must cost, along with the special fireproof trousers. Never seen that before... I am not sure I understand what you meant with my poor english, sorry. A short demo would be worth a thousand words.

Would you be so kind to make a very short demo of this super interesting system on video, please ?

Edit : Please, dear Mr Haney, sir ?

They are a tad expensive! When I'm searching for something I've never seen before I search for like 'lock washer' which it apparently was, and then I click on images. I only scrolled through about 5 pages before I saw 'serrated washers' and then searched for that in images, and finally found the link to mcmaster carr.... MUCH faster searching images than text, being worth 1000 words 'n all.....

Without the flowery words...

instead of an LED, let's go retro... stomp on the switch and an oiled wick lights up with a live flame.... what could possibly go wrong?

I think you are onto something good here, we all know guitar players who would definitly be interested by such original and beautiful idea.

Low-tech touch, refusal of sophistication, very "no-wave".

This could very well justify selling your effects twice the market price. I always dream to have this kind of ideas and go big, go all the way.

People will call you Wild Fire Haney, the builder who can ignite a guitarist on stage.

I hate generalizations, but U.S citizens obviously know how to put a good show...
