Angine de Poitrine

I feel you, but I mean, they are a two man looper-based microtonal calculus rock band.

And Québécois. This is your brain, this is your brain on poutine. Questions? Quebec consistently has interesting perspectives in creative enterprises.

I'll say they are doing different stuff than the usual pop/blues/dad rock that prevails, and their pedal use is not serving the usual led zep/SRV/bb king wankfest or whatever. Not afraid of the ring mods.

If you scroll through the whole recording, there is quite a lot of groove later, and even rocking! and I applaud their fearless weirdness. They are obviously invested, thoughtful, and very disciplined musicians. They got chops, at least.

If they are "having a moment" it might be because music is not having a moment, it's just a rutty old thing right now where everything feels done and derivative. Even before AI started it's mass fête de la régurgitation. Let's pousse l'enveloppe, tabernac!

I am shocked when I listen to what the kids call "indie music" now. Really cool looking costumed performers also abound, but have you ever listened to sleep token? It's the fucking worst. Pop-metal lite treacle.

J'applaudis angin' de poitrin' !! Fait kek' chose d'interessant! Hostie d'câlice !!!

My greatest hope for things like is that it opens up the gate wide enough for the normies to get exposed to a wider range of other artists that they'd otherwise be unaware of, thanks to the RIAA's mafia-like grip on spotify and the like.
Yeah, I'm definitely all for that. Not wild about the costume thing, but it worked for Sun Ra and countless other people I respected greatly, so carry on. Especially given the context of the YouTube/Tik Tok sort of culture the music biz has morphed into.

I dig them. Super bummed how quickly the NY shows sold out. I tried buying and got thru the queue 2 minutes after they went on sale, and it was already sold out. On the waitlist for cancellation/unclaimed promo tickets but I wouldn’t be shocked if there are a good thousand or more people ahead of me on the waitlist too

It seems like one of those bands where I just go "man I wish I liked their music".
My old weirdo originals band used to double bill with a very theatrical band that I used to silently say that about all the time. But luckily both our audiences tended to like all of it, so it was still a really good fit.

I have no complaints, watched the KEXP video a few times and enjoyed it more each time. Agree fully with what's been said above--if it pokes the eye of comfy corporate indie-alike, more power to them.

It'd be fun to see them do it live, but resellers had a field day with their upcoming tour. Their US West Coast dates sold out in seconds, and resale tickets were up in minutes, at ~8x prices. Not sure I'd even want to stand around in an audience that paid $300 for tickets to get in on the buzz.
