Best EgoDeath yet

I obviously can't get enough of the MadBean EgoDeath... I think this is the 6th one I've built.

I really like the sounds you can get out of this OCD-ish circuit. The ultra-ancient D2G diodes really work in here. these have forward voltage around 250mv.

The notoriously annoying layout of the board makes for inspiring wiring. I think this is my best take yet on wiring it up.

If you try it this way. place the stomp switch as low as possible on the pedal. this one is just a bit too high and the input jack hits the shell of the switch and and you either need to kind of force it in, or slightly bend the tip contact of the jack which is not ideal, but works.

Of course, if you are sane and use "regular" wire, you can orient the jacks however you want and avoid the issue entirely. but what fun would that be?

The wiring is incredible! Those 2 DC jack wires look so clean, takes skill to not crimp up those wires!

Great build dude!

Thanks. It definitely takes a lot of practice and patience and funky ad-hoc tools.

This is my first time using 22GA bus wire from Amplified Parts.

It was all crimpy looking on the spool and seemed kinda wimpy at first, but after rolling it flat it is just a bit easier to work with than the Remington I was using.

I think it's going to be a keeper.

Killer build! 3 questions for you.

What order do you solder the DC jack connections? And how do you size the connection wires?

Have you considered countersinking the inside of the enclosure where the big beautiful marble is in the middle?

Nice build, the enclosure looks great! I built one of these not long ago, the trim does a great job of taming that muddiness that's known to show up when the gain is cranked on an OCD.

DC Jack connection order... I don't really do it in a particular order. or if I do, I'm not aware that I do...

Size of wires: I assume you mean length... art > science. basically, at this point I kind of estimate it based upon experience. That said, I get one or two segments wrong on the first try in each build and scrap it. Not surprisingly, I puzzling together sometimes requires them to be longer than necessary at times just so I have something to hold on to while soldering, that gets sacrificed.

Countersinking marbles: Do you mean countersinking from the underside so the top meets tangent with the marble? I used to do it that way at first but, personally, I much prefer the look of the straight bore. I blacken the inner walls of the drilled hole to create some contrast and "border" to the marble hole. I just think that looks suits the scruffy, weathered aesthetic of the rest of the build.

Old way on left, new way on right. Let me know what you think.

Damn you!!! I have to admit, that's next level shit inside and out. I like the circuit too, I built this up when Bean released the board and I'd either never played an OCD or had forgotten how good they are.
