I've fallen in love with outies lately, but using them with the pre-drilled PPCB enclosures means you need to make the hole a lot bigger which is annoying as hell. I use outies with any custom drilled enclosures though.

If outie jacks were more popular I'd advocate for switching the stock drilled enclosures over to having an outie sized hole instead of the current hole. The small jacks on Tayda seem to make a shit connection half of the time so the slightest bump disconnects the power. But maybe I just need to order better ones from somewhere else, if I can find some that don't cost a fortune.
 
The small Lumberg style DC jacks from Tayda are terrible! The little (actual) Lumbergs are not cheap but work way better - I've never had a problem with them. The copies though are a disaster waiting to happen. Jacks are something I will never skimp on because cheap jacks suck. I thought the Lumberg 6.5mm jacks looked flimsy but again, I've never had a problem with them, even if I've snipped some of the plastic off to help them fit in a tight place.
 
I mean ideally I'd like to have component numbers, not values printed on PCBs for modding, else identifying the parts is a bit more annoying.

one of my favorite things about ppcb is values printed on the board. Also makes it so if build docs arent up yet…

If you want to mod it you can take the little extra effort. For stock building its sooo much better

Yep, the part numbers are usually the first page of the build doc and on the website, if I’m not mistaken. It is faster, for me, to have the values on the board, but that’s a whole nother thread.

On one hand, finding parts is a bit harder because you have to cross reference build docs to see which part is where, and it's much harder to mod without build docs.

On the other hand, with ResDef building the thing is a bit harder because you have to cross reference the values from build docs, and it's almost impossible to build it without build docs.
