Brown Betty Trim Pot Settings?

Hey all, new builder here and just had my first success with the Brown Betty. Yay! I'm curious about the trim pot setting on this thing. As far as I can tell, internal trim pots are usually used to set a specific voltage for an IC or transistor. Like "this has to be 4.5v or else your stuff don't work right". A quick search of the forums here finds one result of "if you set it this way it sounds like this and if you set it that way it sounds like this! Neat-o!". So my question is if there is recommended setting, even if it's just a start point. Would that be 4.5v? Also, not sure where to measure. Looks like IC2, but not really sure where on IC2. Sorry if this is a basic question. Looking to learn here!

Thanks!

In the case or the Brown Betty, the trimmers are for total gain. So there's no "recommended" setting. You put it where YOU like it, somewhere between "helluva lot of gain" and "way the hell too much" gain..
