BS170 transistors for Prince Albert build

I was building a Lemonade pedal and found that the new 2N5457 FET’s were no good and I would need NOS FETs for the build. The NOS 2N5457 worked Luke’s charm.

I was wondering if the BS170 transistors have and issues the 2N5457 FETs?

As far as I know, Mosfets like the BS170 aren't counterfeited, thus usually work fine. If you want a second option, also order 2N7000s, but you need to flip them 180° due to the flipped pinout.

Regarding 2N5457, you can get the SMD version of those and through hole adapter boards. The smd ones are usually fine.

bs170 are pretty susceptible to ESD ... other than that, no real reason to counterfeit. failure is usually the result of mishandling or misuse
