Capacitor question

See attached schematic for a power section. C27 (100n) is called out as being ceramic. Wondering if someone can explain why this choice was made and how it would affect the circuit vs using film?

It's generally considered better to use a low ESR capacitor in this situation which MLCC capacitors are, one of the situations where X7R is a better choice than C0G.

Any specific reason you would use a film cap here?

You can use film but being that it's not in the audio path a ceramic (or more specifically MLCC) is fine to use. Film are bigger and more expensive so they are typically reserved for the audio path, but here there's no need for them.
