Capacitor sourcing preferences

So far, I have been building pedals with leftovers from components collected from work and old projects.
So now it is time to start ordering fresh capacitors. Mainly good electrolytic and mlcc caps.
Looking for opinions on quality and who buys in piece meal or is there kits available.

Thank you
Gator

I use Kemet R82 series film caps, from 1nF to 1uF, and Nichicon UFW/UFG electrolytic caps, all 35V+. For MLCC I use FG28 series C0G. All bought from mouser in as big a quantity as I can/need to get better per piece pricing.

Another fan of the Nichicon audio grade caps, along with Elna Silmics. And if I can get C0G for MLCC I always try to.

I buy most of my caps from Mouser, mostly because I save a load on shipping costs with them (I’m in Canada, eh?). I turn to a local hi-fi shop for odd spec’d parts, unobtainium/mojo parts, etc.

Cool. Thank you for the responses guys.
Im gonna stock up on a few common sizes. Go through the build docs of the boards I have a double check as well.

Thanks
Gator

Mostly Mouser or sometimes DigiKey, depending on current stock. I like the Rubycon 5mm tall electrolytics for my own designs, but I've used tons of Nichicon and Panasonic ones as well. Murata or TDK for C0G and X7R MLCCs, Kemet PHE426 polypro film caps where they fit and mostly Wimas for polyester film. I need 5% or better tolerances fairly often for the film ones, and tend to stock dozens of my usual go-to values.

What you are about to read is highly scientific.

For box caps, I prefer the Vishays and Epcos. Kemets are cheaper but it bugs me that you can see the electrode underneath the thin, cream-colored surface of the Kemets. I’m sure they're fine. I have mostly Kemets because I'm cheap.

Ceramics: I like the blue TDKs, mainly because they’re blue and cute and not much more expensive in bulk than the others. TDK reminds me of the good cassette tapes from my youth and that’s a dumb reason to pick caps probably.

Electrolytics
Only legit electolytics for your sanity. Get them from Mouser, never Tayda, never Futurlec.
Japanese electrolytics only: Panasonic, Nichicon, Rubycon. (No Lelon under any circumstance. No ChangX. No Sam Yung.)

I know it seems dogmatic, but it's the claw.
