CONTEST CH341A-GO-GO

CONTEST

Village Idiot
More Good News Everyone!

I picked up 20 more of these ordinary chips that have been a pain in the Fig to find lately. I only need a few to keep on-hand ( exactly why though, I’m not certain… ). Therefore and due to this, I have 10 to share with you forum folk. No postal restrictions other than those imposed by authority greater than Fig (USPS), so no rattling on about exclusivity and such silliness.

What are they used for? Currently, the PedalPCB FV-1 Development PCB (and maybe a few by other vendors?). PedalPCB has some inbound so if these get gone, he probably has several hundred coming (just a guess).

How do I get one Fig?

Just ask, and tell us all what idea you might have for some groovy effects!

Thanks for sharing!

Maybe I could fire back the ol’ spincad and revisit all my unfinished ideas (filtered multi tap delay; Crossfading filters; chorussy verb; …).

I haven't a good idea in my head. So, I don't foresee needing one as I haven't got the dev board to use it with anyway. I'll just wait around these parts hoping to hear about other people's wild and crazy amazing ideas. May they build something cool.

I'm currently working on an FV-1 patch in true stereo to do a genuine "ping-pong,' full left-to-right (back & forth) rotary thing.

I’ve got one for my big-ass fv-1 dev box (still haven’t wired that up tho 😅), but I’ve been thinking of creating a stereo dev box too. My biggest goal for stereo stuff if a stereo dynamic-flanger for Zappa stuff. Pretty much comparable to the envelope flanger setting of the keeley bubble torn, but with the left sweeping up while the right sweeps down, for the classic Zappa dual micmix-dynaflange sound.

If I won a chip...

I'd shanghai my friend for a while (he's a programmer and understands these sorts of things, I think) and then...

After Deep-Dive Learning from him, build up some crazy flange patches to get my Chip-Legs. Then...

IDEA #1)
Then build my "Snakes & Ladders" pedal that jumps octaves and then portamento's down.

IDEA #2)
A Shepard's-tone flanger that's in stereo where one signal goes up while the other goes down and then they can be panned at different rates between left and right fields... so the flange would move around like in 3D and appear to forever go up (and down) — enough to make the most hardened sailer sea-sick...

THEN I'd wake up, realise it was just a dream, and hold a contest here so the chip could find it's way to someone that actually would know what to do with it.

Honestly at this point, all I've done is straight analog or the occasional pre-programmed digital... which is odd because I've actually worked in the semiconductor industry since... well... since I finished up grad school. So I figure it's got to be time to learn how to take my effects to the next level and start actually coding... plus I may even be able to rope my son who enjoys coding in as well (... I can dream, right?).

If I were to win one I'd put it into the horn of my flying unicorn I built just yesterday this chip or lack of is the only part keeping us from flying off to have whimsical adventures together. What an amazing coincidence I should stumble upon this contest for the very part I lack.

It feels as if I were drawn here ... now..... for this purpose.
Fig do you feel my presence? I'm standing right next to you. And please stop doing that it's making feel a bit uncomfortable.

You win. Anybody that needs one wins. That’s why I bought ‘em :ROFLMAO: Shoot me your address.

There is an alternative…

I can honestly say that I am probably a few years out from needing one of these. the hoarder in me wants to grab em and run but one would just collect dust on the bench till I had the knowledge needed to utilize it.
